Dear forumites,

I have seen these and other "Thin Skin" Strats, Teles, Jags, etc. out on the internet for awhile and I even OWN one, but I have found precious little information about these guitars! I purchased a two tone burst '57 maple board limited edition recently that has a COA listing it as made in 2006, one of 140 or 160 made. I cannot remember the exact number or what exactly is stated on it, as I haven't looked at in awhile... It has a serial number that starts with a "V" just like the American vintage reissues, but it also says "Limited Edition" on the neckplate. This is one great guitar and I really love it! But recently I've seen another listing on the Wildwood Guitars website, and on Dave's Guitar Shop listing Thin Skin '61 Stratocaster Limited Editions, and they look great, but I cannot find anything on the Fender site about them? Are they a production Limited Edition, and if so, why don't they show up on Fender's website? If they are Custom Shop guitars, why aren't they showing up in the Custom Shop area? I really want one of these guitars, as they have a "C" neck, big frets, and fat '50s pickups, but I'd like to know just HOW limited they really are, and how fast I might have to move to get my hands on one. I lost my '62 AVRI in the financial meltdown of 08 and this guitar in Vintage White just might do the trick! Thanks for any help, and if I've posted this in the wrong area, my apologies!

I am also interested in the 61 Thin Skin Strat. I would contact the dealer and ask them your questions. Let us know what you find out. :D

We don't do "thin skin" in the CS. That is a production line term / process.

I decided to go with another Custom Shop Strat NOS 60's vintage white from The Music Gallery. I should have it next week. Boy I love my Fenders! :D
