Hi,

I bought a Fender Stratocaster at an auction. It has Fender USA stratocaster on the head, and on the back has the usual Custom Shop USA decal. It seems to be a heavy relic, as it is heavily aged (intentionally). However, i can't locate a serial number anywhere where they would usually be located (ie neck, neck plate). I've removed the neck and the finger plate but there is no indication under these. The only thing that seems to differ with the Custom shop decal on the rear of the head is that underneath it has the number 435. I've trawled the net and can't find any custom shop relics with 435 or any 3 numbers underneath. And does the lack of other serial numbers mean this is a bit of a Frankenstein? The maple neck and rosewood fretboard feels great, just like my other (definitely genuine) strat! any ideas? I have photographs but don't know if can post on here.

any help would be much appreciated - want to know what i've got!!! Good or bad!

Cheers,

Jon

Yep, you can post the photos here. Without them I doubt too many here can help you. How does it play?

WHat makes you say that? Any idea then? The neck does seem to be a genuine USA strat neck.

Mis-matched relicing (hardware compared to body), odd CS decal #, looks to be a Warmoth neck of some sort... what are the pickups? could we get pickguard close ups and body cavity close ups?

The CS decal is a fake and its in the wrong position. As chanman said, neck looks like a Warmoth or something- please add some pics of the neck heel to confirm.

The relicing of the body is really bad, no CS stamps on the body, pickup cavity routings look odd to. I doubt that this is a Fender body of any kind.

Looks fishy. Provide Fender with all the info you have via customer care.

I hope that your purchase was protected.

that looks like a Vintage V6 Icon sold in the UK for around £170 with a swaped out or reshaped neck
