Hello,

I'm trying to find information regarding the retail price of 20th Anniversary Masterbuilt Stratocaster (2007, Amber Metallic, 927-0009-885, built by Y.
Shiskov). Can't find too much price information regarding this model at all..so, help would be appreciated.

Also prices of used ones and experiences regarding this model would also help. How do these compare to e.g. 1960s relic models? Two different worlds?

Thanks!

They were a bit different ... large headstock, 2 point trem ...

some info here '

I remember they were very expensive, much more than the similar "pro" series

Thanks. I found that PDF as well. It's otherwise very informative but unfortunately doesn't contain any price information :(

A bit late to the party so I hope you´re still following your thread.

I cannot say much about the retail price. I did buy mine new but it was in 2009 after it spent about a year and a half sitting in a store and they really wanted the guitar out the door. Additionally I live in Europe and you can generally say that you take the US Price and add between 50 and 80 percent.

What I can say though is that I really love mine. It´s a Todd Krause built Olympic white - or at least it used to be. Awesome attention to detail. Especially the fret job and the Closet Classic /almost relic job. Sound relly nice - the CS69s especially. Good quak tones when combined in pos 5 with the texas special.
Good thing is you can roll down the treble on the bridge if you want to as it is already wired this way. two point trem - which I don´t use so I don´t really care - bone nut, large headstock, ash body, 1/4 sawn neck with nice tint. Mine has a little flame in there.

How does it compare to Relic 60s... well, I ordered a CS 62 relic and was so disappointed when I compared it to the masterbuilt that I ended up returning it. The 62 was nice guitar by itself, but in comparision with the Masterbuilt it sounded weak and thin, fret job was nothing special and just felt like it was intentionally beat up. Totally unlike the MB. It feels like it aged naturally - difficult to explain really.

If you have the chance to buy one I would go for it - especially as they are usually not going for more $$$ than a teambuilt relic in the U.S.
If I had the chance to buy another one for the prices in the States I would snatch it up in a second.

Here is some eye candy for you - there are a few more pictures in the Masterbuilt thread here in this forum:

Used to be Olympic white but I played it so much that the face of the guitar got a nice tan.
This is how it looked like when I got it.

retail in the us was $5700 when i remember correctly, street pice around $4000 when they came out. I bought mine from an UK dealer for a far better price. A great guitar, mine was built by Greg Fessler. Really different tone and feel than a standard 60s Relic.

You´re welcome...

I´d buy another one in a heartbeat if I could find one in the right color.

One thing I noticed about mine is, that is only seems to work with a neck that is really dead flat - anything above 0.005 relief will give me buzz between 5th and 7th... No matter how high I set the action

But since I like really straight necks that´s no problem for me.
Only one thing I would change about it. If I was to design one of these, it would have 6100 Fretwire - but it will be likely that my guitar gets this fretwire sometime in it´s life.

It´s my No.1 go to guitar. If I just want to play a few licks in between or when I walk by it I just have to grab that one.

Thanks for the pictures, great looking guitar, and nice to know it plays just as well. I have had my eye on a MasterBuilt recently, maybe I will pick on up soon. Thanks again.

I bought one in 2007 -- MAP was about $3600-3700; however mine wasn't a Yuri Shiskov. I believe I paid about $3400 + tax

I prefer large headstock to the small ones, especially with a transition logo, I like the '69-'70s logo though :)

I have a Greg Fessler one too - olympic white as well :) best strat I've ever played. Finish on the neck is already smoothing in my favourite places. Sounds and plays fantastic - glad to see some other fans out there.
