What does the "R" and the following #'s mean? I tried to look it up on the support links, but didn't see it. Thanks.

If the 'R' refers to 'Reissue', why is it that the Custom Deluxe guitars have an 'R' serial number?

How can it mean "Relic", when mine is an N.O.S.?

I guess because it's New Old Stock therefore Relic. I don't know just guessing as I thought the same as you. My NOS Gilmour starts with R too.

So we would have to do a stack of N serials C serials, and R serials.

You get R because that's the largest percentage of the mix.

This still doesn't explain the significance of using the "R" serial number on the Custom Deluxe range though does it?

After all, there is no way that they can be classed as any type of relic.

If you take a look at the description for the Custom Deluxe guitars, it specifically mentions the usage of the "R" serial number, almost as if it is intended to be viewed as a 'plus point' (for want of a better phrase) for the instrument, but as yet, I've not managed to find any explanation as to why?

Any idea Mike? It doesn't really make any difference to me, but it would be nice to know the reasoning behind it!

If they are showing up on other guitars, it's because we just decided to use them on that instrument. The R serial is just something we use as well as some other C numbers.

Thanks for clearing that up Mike!

Can't wait for mine to arrive. 4-6 months I was told when I finally got my order sorted (12 June), so maybe not too long now. The clock is ticking! :)

Russ
