Hi everyone!

I love playing guitar (mainly strat) and am a great fan of strats and blues, as my username implies .

Now a while ago, i came across this very rare guitar (well, so it seems to me).
It's something called 'fender hybrid stratocaster', obviously i am not interested in the guitar itself, when i noticed it was for sale at 1500euros(2000dollars) , i suddenly did get interested, cause i think this might be worth more... ALOT more... Obviously i tried googling it, but it was no use, i have no clue what the real value or story behind this guitar may be.

Here's a link from the real site: http://nl.kapaza.be/belgie/2006-usa-fen ... 007208.htm

Should i buy it?? Cause actually i'm saving for the john mayer strat, but if this guitar is a real bargain i might go for it..

Thanks for your help!!

That's a Strat/Tele Hybrid....Born from the brain of former Masterbuilder Chris Fleming.

Chris was a Fantastic builder....has since been promoted....so you can no longer have things built by him.

$2000 US is a great price for a Masterbuilt guitar.

Here's the specs:

Fender Custom Shop Custom Shop Strat/Tele Hybrid Closet Classic Features:

Tele-shaped lightweight alder body with Strat contours
1965 C-shaped Strat neck
Matching headstock
9-1/2" radius on a rosewood fretboard
'50s hand-wound pickups
S-1 switching
Closet Classic aging
Candy apple red finish
Bone nut
3-ply parchment pickguard
Medium-jumbo fretwire.

A cool and kind of rare guitar....in that you don't see them around all over the place....there are still places you can find them new...I saw one on Ebay listing for 5K US....but that's a little high...they usually go for around 3K from what I've seen.

Alain,
are you saying that he made a fair statement or that the price of $2000 is only a fair price for a MB?

WOW! If $2000 is only a "fair" price on a brand new MB....then I need to start going guitar shopping with you!!! (I can fly to France next month! :D)
Seriously that would be lower than even dealer cost on most. Teach me my master :D

If it's Brand New...and only $2000 and (MOST IMPORTANT) YOU LIKE IT!

Then IMHO it sounds like a pretty good deal "TO ME".

If you're buying it to try to flip it for a profit....then to me it's just rolling the dice....again...just "MY OPINION". they seem to appeal to a narrow market of buyer....which is why you see so many still available for brand new some 4 years after they were initially released....and at discounted prices.

@Stratbluesguy

Man, you should be very careful before sending any money for that guitar...

The text is written in TERRIBLE French, it's clearly from an automatic translator.

If you can't see the guitar in person, at least ask for as much pictures as possible with COA and all. Otherwise, don't buy it, really, looks like a scam to me.

GREAT observation klwn!!!

We're fortunate to have fluent French speakers in the midst...Something else that may be a little funny about the ad (that I noticed at 2nd glance) is the backround (the rug).

Those pics may well have been taken off of a past US ebay listing! I know there is a US dealer in the DC area that will advertise on ebay and he always uses that same rug as his back drop!

Here is one of his listings http://cgi.ebay.com/2006-USA-Fender-1964-Stratocaster-Masterbuilt-Yuriy-/200506825390?pt=Guitar

That HAS to be more then just a strange coincidence!! I'm with klwn be very careful....could be a scam.

I was speaking about the price.
But I agree with klwn the text is hardly understandable.
And it's a scam,
good eye zSPECTREz

Haha, yep, that's the one

Glad I could help (but not glad I was right, would have been a great deal).
Now I just hope Stratbluesguy will read this before he contacts the "seller".

Now THERE's an interesting shoppers duo, and if you hold off until October you can catch Mike's tour.

No, no
But there are some seasons when pro musicians after having been paid for their Summer tours bought very nice guitars, and once Winter came together with the IR invoice have to sadly split with their new baby.
That's the hunting season, when fresh money is getting scarce...
No morality, but that's the market...
The gold rule: you make your profit on the buying price, not on the selling price, if you buy for profit, not the case for collectors.

From now on I will always save my guitar money for winter.

Though I doubt I will be able to find masterbuilt guitars for less than $2000
