Guys, talked to Rob already, he said he will be calling me back soon with a solution.
Thanks a lot Mike!

EDIT: Just got off the phone with Steve. I really appreciate all the options I was offered to fix the problem. Thanks a lot again.

Thanks! :D
It was spec'd as an early '71, which featured a one-piece four-bolt maple neck as oppossed to the capped neck of the '69. I specially like the walnut dot at the headstock from that period.

Just a quick update on how the guitar looks now after Mike took care of it. I would have been happy if they had sent me a new pickguard to be installed locally but they insisted that I should do the right thing and send it back to get a whole new body instead. Talk about commitment to quality. I'm really impressed...I thought this kind of customer service was a thing of the good old days...

As a result I got a much lighter and better shielded body with the right pickguard. Spectre, I owe you man!
I also have to thank Steve at customer service specially, since he took care of every detail and made sure I got the guitar back as soon as possible. Awesome job!

Thank you so much Mike. This guitar is a dream.

AWESOME!! :D It's a really SEXY BEAST you got there...looks better with the correct guard on there too.

It's great to see the level of service you got from Mike, Rob & the boys.

That Custom Care IS GOOD STUFF!

You said you are used to scalloped board. Why didn't you get this one scalloped? Just curious. You must be having a blast with that thing! Looks great!

Hi John,

Thanks!
I wanted it scalloped but it would have been a Master Built guitar instead of Team Built...maybe the next one! :)

I tried to play it with the regular neck but unfortunately I couldn't get anywhere. So I've scalloped it locally. I did a very light gradual scalloping as in the current Ritchie Blackmore signature Strat. I'm getting it back tonight, can't wait!

EDIT: It feels great!! Guitar Heaven.

:D

Bummer that you couldn't get it done at the factory....BUT....awesome that you're not afraid to do what is necessary to make it how you need it to be!! I call that making it your own!

Your guitar is stirring a fair amount of GAS for me now....admittedly not a "hard" thing to do....BUT...it has become less frequent as of late

LOL

I know, I wanted it done at the CS but when I couldn't afford it I wasn't too afraid to do it here, mostly because Blackmore did a hack job of a scalloping to the original Strat I made mine after to begin with. He actually did it himself! Pure genius. Take a look at this picture with Ian Gillan, that scalloping looks terrible, lol.

This is very similar to a project I have in mind. Can you post Final (scalloped) version?

Peter

Hi Peter,
Here's a short video I recorded, I think it's a good one to see the scalloping. The guitar plays like a dream.
I'd love to see how yours will be, please post back with pictures of the progress!
