Hi Guys,
quick question Ive been reading a fair bit that the custom classic was discontinued in 2009.

I have a Custom Classic Strat Dated 10/13/10 any ideas?

I suppose your guitar is a Custom Deluxe Strat. The Custom Classic series is no longer made.

The Custom Deluxe uses two Custom '69s in the middle/neck positions and a Texas Special in the bridge. The middle pickup is a hum-cancelling RWRP unit with grey bobbins.

If your guitar uses the CS69/TX SPL combo, this would be a Custom Deluxe, not a Classic. Both guitars are different beasts on their own.

I own an '06 Custom Classic. I also have heard they were discontinued. However, I regularly see them on ebay with 2010 COAs. These are not the Deluxe,which have locking tuners. The Custom Classic does not. This "limited edition" seems to be limited to how many they can sell.

I'm positive it's a Custom Classic, CN stands for Custom Nineties and the 9 means it was made in 1999. Who would sell such a gem is beyond me but I'm glad I walked into the store at the right time!

I'm not sure that is always the case, especially with the Fender Custom Shop. Used to have strat with a CN95 seriaul number, and this was before '99. My Custom Deluxe pair have Rxxxxxx seriaul numbers for example...

Hey Guys,

I too have a Custom Classic. According to the Cert of Authenticity, it was built in 2009, so must be one of the lat before being discontinued. Serial Number starts (CZ5xxxxx). It's finished in Honey Blonde "Thin Skin" Nitro finish, which allows the grain to show through beautifully - it also has a beautiful lightly figured maple neck. I've found the full spec on line from USA Trader, Sweetwater.com (I'm UK based).

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/StratCCMHBL

From what I can tell, this is the exact same model as mine (Fender Part Number 015 6302 867). It is easily the best Strat I've ever owned, beautifully put together and sounds so sweet from those Modern Classic single coil pick ups.

My question is this. All my factory built Strats are made of either 3 or 2 piece Ash - this beauty is built from Ash as well and as are far as I can tell, seems to be made from just one piece of wood - is that likely to be the case for a custom build guitar?

By the way, for the record, my other Strats are:

1. 1982 (Smith) Strat CBS era, Hardtail - Ash body, natural wood finish, in remarkably good condition (before the custom classic, the smith start was easily by favourite, but the CC easily surpasses it (that said, the quality build of the Smith Strat is remarkable - he (Dan Smith) did a great job bringing back the quality build in 1982, in the final years of CBS ownership

2. 1978 CBS era, Hardtail - Ash body (I think) - finished in a very nice dark Mocha / chocolate with a Maple Neck;

3. 2009 Deluxe - Floating Bridge, Tremolo Arm; again in Ash, nice guitar with the locking tuners and S-1 switching.

Any views on any of these also welcome - thanking you in anticipation, :D
