Recently I've been going through the specs for some of the Custom Shop '52 Telecasters and I've been wondering why they chose the Deluxe Tweed Case (with Red Crushed Velvet Interior) to go with the '52 Telecaster Heavy Relic Limited Release instead of the "Poodle" case that originally came with '52 Telecasters. Are the Deluxe Tweed cases considered to be the top of the line? Did this guitar come with the deluxe case because it is a limited release and that is the designated case for those particular limited models?

If the deluxe tweed you're referring to is the "Center pocket" Tweed case....Then (my opinion is) That's the best one they use...It has the BEST neck support and tons of storage space too!! Also seems a bit sturdier then the reg tweed cases.

Agreed, save for those luxury cases we can have on some CS Ltd Edition guitars

I personally don't think my black Ltd. case is too sturdy... it doesn't ever want to sit on its legs by itself, and has problems closing too. I have been meaning to contact them about that but never got around to it... I use Anvil Flight Cases for most of my stuff when I gig out of town or state, but just use a regular old Fender TSA Molded case around town.

I like the molded cases too...they fit into places much easier that's for sure.

Curious...is your blk LTD case a "center pocket" case?

Wow, my case is a deluxe plush tweed but it has the side-pocket not the center-pocket! It doesn't really make any sense because I checked out the Fender Custom Shop website and the '58 Telecaster Heavy Relic Special Edition comes with the "center pocket" case:

http://www.fendercustomshop.com.au/limitededitions/9230005899.php

Why would that guitar come with the so-called "better" guitar case?

You know you're into my favorite Fender b---h here. I've stated over and over again that nothing they make rises to the level of a PRS case as a stock high ender, and, for the life of me, I can't understand why they just don't go for it. The new American Standard cases are better than the old tweed design for sure but for the CS and Masterbuilts, the company needs to rise to the occasion.
