A local shop has a beautiful Custom Shop NOS Nocaster in blond. I have a butterscotch Deluxe Tele which has a similar neck to the '52 reissue. I was wondering what the differences are between the '52 and the Nocaster? The Fender products site has a listing for the NOS Nocaster which mentions a special blending pot, etc. but the pickguard is a different color so I'm not sure it's the same model.

Can anyone share their experiences with the Nocaster?

52 Neck pup is unbelievably sweet and warm. Almost like a humbucker.

In this one case the Nocaster pickups (which I Love) are just different but not better than the 52.

I like the huge neck on the nocaster better. Overall I like the nocaster build better too.

My ideal (which I would never swap out) is the nocaster with the 52 neck pick up.

I do like the nocaster neck pickup a lot but there is something about the 52 for me.

It's fortunate for me I own both.

Doh! Wouldn't you know it, I went by the shop and the Nocaster has been sold. The search goes on...

ckfoley, have you seen the 2010 FCS Roadshow Teles? The heavy relic 52 looks very, very tempting. You can see the info here: http://www.fenderroadshow.com/

Those Road Show instruments are pretty interesting but honestly, I'm just not into relics. That was the nice thing about the one at the local shop - it was a NOS version. Interestingly, it had a white pickguard. I looked at Wildwood to see if they had anything like it but all of their blond versions have a black pickguard. I think this local guitar is the same as the versions Wildwood has listed as "51 Nocaster NOS". Too bad they don't have a blond NOS version.

Anyone know any other sources to check (I've also looked at Music Zoo).
