Actually my 1995 CS masterbuilt Black EC lefty has the Blackie logo on it - they won't do that these days!

You're sure? I gather that if you order a Masterbuilt and specify that you would like the signature with the "Blackie" decal on the front of the headstock (and then in perfect alignment with the Stratocaster logo, like EC's own and unlike the ones from the production line....), why would Fender decline such a simple request? I would be disappointed if they did so. Maybe ME can shine a light on the matter...

I would venture to say that it might be because the guitar is not provided to the artist in that fashion any longer. Which is likely why the signature goes on the back of the headstock. In keeping with that thought, why have the signature at all, in that the artist eschews it. I'd go that route. 8)

My more recent CS purchases - also 'lefty EC strats' - I was told they would not officially call them EC strats because they were lefty (ie, EC couldn't play them I guess). So my lefty EC goldleaf got called a 56 Strat NOS and my lefty EC olympic got called a custom stratocaster.

The 95 build was actually called a Lefty Clapton Blackie Stratocaster

.....but the case embroidery reads "Signature Series" doesn't it. Until the pickups on the Clapton were changed, that guitar didn't need a signature either...the Lace's spoke for it.

Perhaps a not so silent nod to the purchaser. 8)

Yes Doc, the inside of the case has the Custom Shop (words and symbol) and David Gilmour Signature Model embroidered on the crushed velvet!!

No name on the axe though!! Doesn't need it!

Thank you for the affirmation upon which we both agree. 8)

Sure. In the eyes of the company you may have reached a kind of favored nation status. Look at it this way. A personalized Signature Series EC Stratocaster :!: Even Alain hasn't rated that one. Impressive. 8)

I love the old logo, so I won't change anything.

ME

I just saw an EC daphne blue LE with a COA of 7/16/10 with the "When you're ready" on the headstock logo

Is this a legitimate custom shop guitar? If it is I am going to buy it.

Yes just like that. You have a beautiful guitar! My concern is that....

Mike poted on June 21 that they no longer issue these with the WYR addition on the logo. The COA date on the one I am looking at is 7/16 which is well after they are no longer issued. I wouldn't be concerned, but but this is an Ebay guitar.

It the last two days there are 6 daphne blue ECs added to ebay. If they are legit, now is the time to buy one.

It's clever, it's " tongue in cheek " to me it subtly infers this...

" When you are done with the imitations, Come back to the real thing"

I play one of the CS strats and I've played a lot of the others, nope... a Fender Strat is still the one to emulate.. (I'm Biased)
