Of course almost all of her stage guitars come with a rosewood fretboard, including the original mirrored Telecaster.

The rosewood fretboards on a Tele look very rich and appealing to the eye, plus they sound great! Chrissie has good taste in guitars. :D

A few of her guitars sport a maple neck.

Very cool photo. Chrissie seems to be a Fender girl, like me. Great choice in guitars!

Explanation is Chrissie has not yet approved the idea for a signature model

Don't despair and keep your hope alive, perhaps your dream would become true someday! :P

I wish she would approve the idea, because it is a complement to her songwriting, guitar playing ability. She is a pioneer setting the way for other female musicians who are trying to break through the glass ceiling. :D

Still waiting on the Hynde Telecaster. I waited years for a Marc Bolan and got it, than I finally got a Trini Lopez this year after seeing it at Namm. I guess with all the transitions at Fender going on, this is not even in a thought pattern to contact Chrissie about doing an artist endorsement.
I am very happy with the Custom Shop MVP 56 heavy relic Strat I got from Make n Music this past December. Teddy my sales guy always gets the coolest guitars from Fender. :D

I love Chrissie. Though honestly she doesn't seem to get too into what guitar she plays. You see some artists who are total gearheads. Like Billy Duffy when he talks about his Signature White Falcon, or Johnny Marr who if you haven't gotten a chance to watch the video he does about his Signature Jazzmaster is really fun to watch. He's a total gearhead and you can really hear his excitement when he talks about the design process. Then others like Chrissie who are just like "I just play the guitars I like. I don't know why I like certain ones more than others." SO it's possible that it would be hard to do a Chrissie Hynde Signature since she really isn't faithful to any Tele in terms of specs. Whether it's necks, body woods, or pick ups. So pretty much any Telecaster could be a Chrissie Hynde model. However, I saw her play a couple sparkle finish teles in live videos which were obvious CS models. Really killer sounding and looking guitars. She's certainly been faithful to the model for a long time and deserves one for her influence on rock. She's got a definite personal style to her strumming and her tone. So I'd think it's more than warranted. Has she been approached, and turned it down due to lack of interest? She has a solo album out this fall which I already pre-ordered my vinyl copy of.

Personally, I don't know if I'd ever buy a CS signature model. They are usually pricey and if I'm buying a CS guitar I don't know if I'd want someone else's name on it. Like The Pino P bass. It's a killer bass, and I love that vintage of P. However, I think I'd want something a little more "mine" at that price level.

That being said. If it was an American Vintage style artist offering like the Marr Jazzmaster I would certainly be open to making her Tele my first Tele. I've loved her work for a long time.

My bad, I always get turned around on those 60's era models. Jags, Jag-stangs, Jazzmasters, Jag-masters and any others. It's all a lot to keep straight for a guy who thinks the P bass might have been perfected the first time around in 51.
