I am considering changing the pick guard on my '66 CS LTD Strat, which looks rather too white, with a mint green version. Does anyone know if I would use one made with the '62 vintage hole placement, or a regular one? Both have a 11 hole screw placement. and listed for sale.

Thanks for the advise!

More than likely you'll need the 2nd of the two you posted (Standard 11-hole). But you should double check your guitar to be 100% sure.

The difference between the two is the location of 2 screws...1 on the top side (in the playing position) between the neck and mid pup AND one by the 3 or 5 way switch...look closely you should notice the difference.

I believe the "SPEC" changed in late '64 or early '65...so a '66 "should" have the newer 11-hole pattern.

I hope that helps :D

The easiest to see is the screw betwwen the neck and middle pup. Note one is about half way in between the two pups and the other is almost directly above the middle pup.

Most definetely STANDARD 11-hole for the guitar in that pic.

Look at the PG screw just to left of the middle pup hieght adjustment screw (Bass side)....on a '62 11-hole pattern, that screw would be more in between the middle pup and the neck pup...in other words a couple of inches to the left looking at it as it is in that picture...Make sense?

I guess it's just that one screw that different....I'm thinking of a 50's guard that has a different location by the pup selector switch (farther away on a 50's).

In any event...you need a STANDARD 11-hole....for a guitar like the one the pic. :D
