See that's what I thought...

but as per Fender's website:

"aged white" - I'm confused...

They are white. Unless you're talking about Blackie Tribute Series which ARE aged.
Cheers!

8) Strange though... must be a typo on that sheet. The knobs have always been white, never aged white.

This brings back nightmares of the TBX controversey. It took months before we were able to ascertain that only the Masterbuilt version had a conventional tone pot. :?

Hmm, seems like crappy parts list for sure. Something obviously went wrong there. I would stick to the observation that production line and CS teambuilt guitars have the TBX, while the CS masterbuilt does not have it. THE remaining and most impartant question however is whether or not Clapton's personal guitars have the TBX fitted.

While we're at talking Clapton strat details again (ohh, how do I love this... 8) ); I noticed older Clapton Strats (my observations limit to factory models here...) and Clapton's older personal guitars had a spacer under the butterfly clip. The newer guitars (both CS and production line) do not have the spacer anymore. When was this changed? What was the rationale for leaving out the spacer?

It does not. The Masterbuilt guitar is for all intents and purposes the same as his stage guitar. That's what we finally determined. As for the clip, I have no memory of it ever been brought to anyone's attention.

Yep - ZZDoc's got it..NO TBX in EC's current guitars (Or the MB Version). From conversations I've had...He stopped using it LONG ago...I seem to recall even Kendrick saying that he never used it in ANY of the guitars he built for EC...I don't think TK has either.

I personally like the the TBX with LS pups....Don't need it with the VN's.

Robert's got a good memory...EC's earlier guitars did indeed have the spacer....I had a Merc Blue built by Kendrick a while back that also had the spacer. I'm not sure why it was deleted exactly...but it doesn't seem to have any adverse effects one way or the other in my experience.

Well, that settles it then, no TBX in EC's personal guitars. Thanks for clearing that up guys.

zSPECTREz, your remark with regard to your personal stance towards the TBX is a fine example how personal tastes differ; I have exactly the opposite opinion. :) To my ear the Lace's overemphasize the highs, therefore I never found any need to use the TBX in Lace equipped EC Strats. However, on certain amps I find the VN's sound a bit dull sometimes and there I'm thankful to have the TBX to make the VN's sound just a little bit more "snappy".

On the spacer; I tend to think that tuning is a little bit easier on a guitar with the spacer since it reduces the string angle at the nut considerably. Admittedly the real issue there may just be the indent at nut that is a bit too thin. On a personal level I like the appearance with the spacer a bit more. Interestingly, Blackie (the original) also has the spacer:

So, any Daphne Blue left? I hesitated thinking that they will be around for a while. Maybe a second run...?

Hi Elliot-

I hope to at least see the guitar at Bonhams in NYC.

Is there an exact date for the auction yet?

Cheers!
