Hi all from Germany,

I bought a used Fender Telecaster specified as a Fender Custom Shop American Classic Tele. It is a beautiful guitar which I love and play often.

Now, a friend told me, that the serial # is given for Korean made guitars and I doubt and need help to identify my guitar.

The serial # is CN506782

You can see this guitar here http://gallery.me.com/joergengels#100110

Can anybody help me?

Thanks in advance and I apologize for my English.

Regards
Jörg

CN numbers are also used by the Custom Shop. Pictures look like it's a fine guitar to me. If it's a copy it's a nice one. Email the customer support with serial number to confirm.

According to the Guitar Dater Project:

Guitar Info
Your guitar was made in Korea
in the Year(s): Cannot yet be determined from serial number

That's what I found too. But as you could read before, the serial # could also be used on CS guitars.

Joerg

Last time I heard, Oscar Pallares (the person who built your lovely neck) was still working at the Custom Shop, and not living in Korea! :)

That's the problem - bought it without. Fell in love with it and didn't care 'til this friend told me it could be a fake....

The CN designation is absolutely something we did in the Custom Shop. The "CN" prefix stood for "Custom" - "Nineties" and then the next digit of the year. In your case it would be a 1995... approximately. We would run X amount of neck plates at a time. They could spill into the next year.

With so many posts and having been a member of the fender community for a few years now I'd have expected a much more informed response than this.

I'd have expected a bit of common decency, instead of targeting one particular poster with some snipe.

Still you don't always get what you want do you.
