Hi everyone.

I'm new here, I hope I'm posting my request in the right forum.

Here's the thing: I'm the owner of a L-series 1964 Fender Stratocaster.

Problem is: the neck of this guitar has been restored 10 years ago VERY badly. I mean REALLY badly: poor quality lacquer + the previous removal of the lacquer made large damages to everything printed on the headstock (logo, patent list, ...Actually, part of the logo and typography are still readable which make the thing even worse to me).

So my request to the Fender Custom Shop is the following one:
would Fender Custom Shop agree to work on this neck by restoring it "as per 1964 specifications" (same logo, same font for characters, etc ...), and would it be possible to get the neck a bit aged so it look likes it is more than 45 years old ?

I'm really serious about this request: actually, I'm willing to ask a few luthiers around my area if they would agree todo the job. However, I doubt they will be able to get the neck "as per 1964 spec'"; that's why I'm asking Fender Custom Shop support.

If you need any other details, please ask.

Finally, I'd just like to precise that this guitar belonged to a relative of mine. This guitar has a lot of sentimental value to me. I'd just like to honour my relative by properly restoring its guitar.
I don't care about the price this guitar would sell today, and for people who might ask: I am absolutley not willing to sell it, at any price !

Best regards.

We don't do restorations in the CS, but there are many really great shops out there. Take your time and research though. See examples of their work, talk to people like George Gruhn in Nashville, or Steve Soest in Orange, CA.

There are plenty of luthiers these days that can do incredibly realistic jobs such as perfect recreations and restorations of classic Fenders. For example, check out this guy's webpage in the U.K. called bravewoodguitars.co.uk.He has a gallery of guitars that he has built and another gallery of guitars that he has restored....his work is quite impressive. He builds the guitars entirely from scratch and really matches the original specs with incredible accuracy. He knows the difference of what spec changed on a given month in a given year....he's a real guitar geek!Mike,I think this guy would impress the Fender custom shop crew...maybe you should hire him!!!

Thanks for your answer.

I havn't asked any luthier right now.But I wonder one thing : would Fender accept that a luthier reproduces Fender decals and logo on the neck on my guitar?

This could be seen as some kind of countefeit (although it is not).
Would Fender agree such thing?

Regards.
