hi,
do you know why custom shop puts a Seymour SH4 bridge pickup instead of a seymour TB4 which is F-spaced?
i ask because on my CS Classic HBS1 , i noticed both low and high E polepiece are not exactly under the string :?
do you know if it may affect the tone?

it is Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster Classic HBS-1 .
serial number : R43789

Which guitar? Do you have a pic? Sometimes we replicate older instruments.

i'll tell you later because i have to do some search , the purchase dates from 2009, it doesn't appear anymore on my ebay account.
i remember the seller told the guitar was in brand new unplayed condition not really "brand new" .
do you think the guitar might be used and the seller put another pickup?

i'm sorry but could you tell me how , if i tell you the store name, this precision can explain why SH4 polepieces are not exactly under the string

Our dealers aren't on Ebay.
The guitar's serial number matches another dealer.
Therefore it is a used guitar.
The pickup may have been replaced.

I know this is an old post. If you look at the custom shop site and spec for this guitar, it does state that it's the SH-4 (Humbucker) not the TB-4 (Trembucker). So you'll probably find that it hasn't been moddified. Mine also has the SH-4 not TB-4.

It was made that way to replicate a modified Strat.
If you want a Trembucker, go through Custom Care and get it sorted.

I'm not looking to get it fixed. I actually like it that way. I just got one and found out the answer to the above question.

The previous reply had stated the pickup could have been changed and that's why it didn't fit. True it could have been replaced but this may not be the reason. More likely the reason is because the Custom Shop makes them like this and until my answer and yours were posted the replies didn't reflect this.

It's a great guitar and totally love it. Took me ages to track one down, shame it's not being made anymore as I'd probably have bought a second.
