I am about to upgrade my current pickups to either the Fat 50's or the 69's. I haven't had a chance to play a guitar with either of these pickups, but I've listened to them through videos on the the CS website. Anybody have preferences or and tips on my upgrade? Thanks.

I like the 69s better - - to my ear they have a cleaner and rounder tone. One of the best clean tones from any original Fender pickups in my opinion (except for custom winds off course)
If I pick up a strat I mainly do so because of the cleaner and breakup tone - If I want overdrive I´ll take a humbucker equipped guitar so the 69s would be my choice.

I do have one of the limited 64 Relic Strats and it was described as having overwound fat 50s though and I don´t know if these are the same as regular fat 50s.

The fat 50s I heard were OK if I would be looking for a sound with a little more grit from a strat.

Agree, I love my Fat 50s in the neck position, pure Gilmour for me. I havent tried the 69s though. The Fat 50s works perfectly for what i need it for.
