I am a noob when it comes to Fender Custom Shop and have not had the opportunity to play a lot of Strats due to me being a Left Handed player. I am very interested on ordering a Custom Deluxe.

to be more specific this one

Custom Deluxe Stratocaster®
Custom Deluxe Stratocaster® - 1 pc Flame “A” Maple or Indian Rosewood Cap, 3 ply Mint Green Pick Guard, 5-Way Switch, 1965
Stratocaster® “C” Neck Profile, 9.5” Neck Radius
, 22 6105 Frets, Bone Nut, Schaller Locking Tuners, 1969 Neck Pickup, 1969 Reverse
Wound Reverse Poll Middle Pickup, Texas Special Bridge Pickup, Thin Nitro Lacquer Body Finish, Vintage Tinted Lacquer Neck Finish,
Modern Decal, “R” Serial Number Neck Plate.

150-9902-831 Aged Cherry Sunburst, Ash Body, Maple Neck.

What I would like to know is more on the Neck itself and it's shape. I have bolded the part I would like clarifying.

Using my 2008 USA Standard Strat as a reference. Because I really like this neck. What is the difference in shape and feel between the Custom Deluxe Neck and the neck on my USA Standard?

Hope my question is easy to understand.

It may be different for you "leftys", but this neck is slightly larger than a MIA or MIA Deluxe Stratocaster neck. But you will find the craftmanship to be excellent, and it will feel much better than a new MIA.
I've got a few MIA strats and few custom shop guitars as well, and the "Custom Deluxe" is quickly becoming my #1.

Thanks SG

I know what I have in mind for this Strat is seeing if I could get perhaps a BEM Fingerboard with Gold Hardware. I think it would be awesome.

Sorry I forgot to add that the 9.5" radius is standard on MIA strats as well, and seems to be the default for modern Fender guitars, versus 7.25 radius ("vintage").

Well back to the drawing board. The Custom Deluxes are now gone. from what I read on these boards.

However I can't wait to see what is in store for the 2010 lineup.

Not gone, just the colors are changing. I asked Mike from the Custom Shop about this specifically. I think maybe there may be some other small changes with the specs based on the "Custom Deluxe Modified" thread and models that swere released as well.

Will the new catalog be released at Namm? or in the Spring?

Usually the new Fender catalogs come out in January, then again in summer. I don't know that I "need" any new guitars, but you never know what tasty items might show up...

Shouldn't matter. You take those specs to a Showcase Dealer and have them submit it. Just because they are no longer producing a specific model in quantities, doesn't mean they won't build it as a Custom Shop order, including the hardware changes, particulary if you specify it Masterbuilt. It will cost you some coin, may be a bit of a wait, but if that's the axe you really want, go for it. 8)

I am confused. What EXACTLY are the differences between me ordering a guitar from the custom shop under my specs with the help of a Fender Custom Shop Luthier

and ordering a Masterbuilt?

What exactly am I paying for?

Essentially one and the same as you put it. A Masterbuilt guitar is assembled by one individual and you have a one on one relationship with that person and input into the build. Any questions regarding the project go between the two of you. You pay for the exclusivity of the services of one person. With a Custom Shop build (formerly teambuilt) there is no such interaction.

For example, and based upon what I know these days, if I were ordering anything based on a Clapton guitar platform at this time, I would have Todd Krause build it. Was not so well informed 5 years ago when I had a guitar Teambuilt. Did not turn out as well as I had hoped for and would have been worth the additional expense. Likely would taken less time and yielded a better result.
