Hey everybody. Just ordered a new Mary Kaye Strat from Dave's Guitar and am counting down the days until it arrives. This will be a long 4 months, granted that's nothing compared to what others have had to wait for their Masterbuilts, but still it's kinda lame right now.

Congrats on the new guitar. Dave's a good guy to deal with. He told me about 3 months on my EC custom shop and it came in a lot earlier. Maybe you'll get that surprise early call too.

Awesome. I've bought a lot of guitars from Dave's before, but getting a custom order was really fun.

It started off as your basic Mary Kaye, Then I asked for a quarter-sawn neck with a bone nut. Then the pickups are a Fat 50's in the neck, a '69 in the middle and a Texas Special in the bridge, the 5 way switch with a tone control for the bridge.

The cost was surprisingly low and I can't wait for it to get here. I've got some Bakelite plastic on order to switch out. I fell in love with the looks of the '56 Strat that I saw at Willie's with the Bakelite parts.

Fender never used bakelite but urea formaldehyde, some kind of mineral fiber crushed, compacted then glued.

Too true Alain! Well this is the polystyrene material which I do believe is the same thing that was used in the fifties.

I ordered a new Stras 3 weeks ago and was told that it would be 4 months. I have other masterbuilt Strats but have never ordered one. It is a privilege and I want to do it while I can.

I was a little annoyed to learn last week that the order hadn't even been placed yet!

That's terrible man, I wonder why they waited. I'm sure you're going to love it, What did you get by the way?

Ya'll should consider yourselves fortunate. My order, several years ago, was a 12 mos wait and, after all of that, was sent back because the neck was wrong. :? That story's been told enough times around here. 4 mos. is a breeze.

Patience. 8)

It's in! I got a call from Dave's and the guitar was here a month early! Which was a very lovely surprise. Just waiting for it to get here Monday, I'm just so excited!

That poor chap in the UK should have gone your route, and paid the freight just for the sake of efficiency.
