Very nice! a worthy addition to your fab collection. I have often wondered how the aluminum body strats sound in comparison to the variety of wood ones, how about your impressions Alain. This is not your first aluminum one is it,how many do you now possess if I may ask. Thanks again for sharing your new CS guitars with us it is thrilling to speculate what Alain is up to next, collection wise.Cheers Craig

Hi Craig,
Thanks,

In fact I don't own so many, "just" the HD and the Mustang.
When you play them , which I do regularly but not that often, they sound very clear, almost bright, compensated by the ebony fingerboard with a sharp attack but with a lesser sustain.
They do need to be very well taken care of because of their inner aluminium sructure with a chrome finish.
If you do so, they keep their original beauty without any problem.

I'm very eager to collect that one tomorrow :)
Alain

Yes, I was guessing it was this one. It was a one-off NAMM 1994 from John English. It's mostly blue and was recently on the market and was sold! (There were about 150 of the silvery ones.)

Huummm, a near miss....
Not that one, but what you say is correct.

This is NOT the Aloha 001 presented at the 1994 NAMM; this is a second one, "reversely" different.

I was very close, but of course butterscotch had guessed it before me! I had found this link, but I mixed up the pictures: hula girl versus umbrella.

Congrats on the find and purchase.

Yes I felt you made it too; but you can see both sides have been reversed with some changes to cut the cost and going forward to the 153 Freddy Tavares dropping the color anodizing which couldn't be made on "so many" guitars
Congrats anyway to your perspicacity
Alain

This was the asking price , but still , I think this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, I know such guitars reach a lot of money; but just keep in mind that's how they will survive as American Icons and they'll be more than well pampered. My obligation.

Oh! I hadn't even noticed the "asking price" before (I guess because it was in black and I wasn't looking there)! Wow. I hope you negotiated a better price, but it's none of my business and I'd rather not know!

However, I'm still confused about the one with the Hula Girl on the front, the two guitars are mixed up on various web sites. Is that number 002?

Yes, only two of them in anodized colors.
This is the number 001 which was shown at the NAMM 1994; it shows on the neck plate.

Peter Kellet is one of the very few people in the world who masters this art.
You'll get photos of her, 001, tomorrow
I mean I do hope so ; but it's on UPS delivery schedule, cool (at least)

I followed that link in my own right in my search of John English's work, and was mind-boggled. You must be monitoring an awesome number of websites in your spare time. How did you learn that it was being offered.?

I was tracking an Aloha Freddy Tavares Strat on *bay. by suggestion of a friend of mine..
I was bidding, but after some time , I gave up because the Seller was more than less comprehensive about overseas deals.
Then I search through Google for some other similar opportunities, and then..
I couldn't let that one go.
Then it was a long story as my friend bought his HD through the same channel.
It's a small world.

Only one more night to wait! This is when time goes so slow!

At least it is nearly there now. I once bought a Lap Steel from a gentleman in NY State, and he posted it to me...just before Christmas. It took 6 weeks to get to me...!

Done @11:45 AM Paris time!!
Just the time to open the parcel and get away 35780 plastic pellets just to reach the case so to take it out and open it..........

I'm speechless, I can hardly move myself as I'm tetanized
Never had such a stroke before (save maybe for the Russian Strat)
It's beyond my wildest expectations as photos cannot render justice to its sheer beauty in 3D . Every square inch of it is breathtaking. Mint condition of course.
I hope to find some stamina ( what about a 2005 Bordeaux ?) to make a first batch of photos today.
Never felt like that before (and there have been many before) for a guitar (I have two sons so it can't compare of course)
This is the Holy Grail....
Alain
PS How comes delivery took place while my wife is traveling abroad ?
