Chris Fleming masterbuilt it : a '63 Bass VI in Olympic White.
More than two years of waiting.
Definitely worth it.
A huge difference with the MIJ one (in price also), not denying the qualities of the latter one; but it's another world specially with the neck and the electronics.
An incredible instrument, much closer to a guitar-a tremolo and a mute- than of a bass notwithstanding the 30" scale.

Hats off to Chris and to the CS again...

Could you explain to me what the mute does? I've seen them before but I can only guess that it just takes away from the sustain.

Gratz,
Technically it's a bass : the scale is 30". It's tuned E to E. In the '60s I was very impressed by the sound of Jet Harris, the former bassist of the British instrumental group 'The Shadows'.
A baritone usually has a 27" scale and generally tuned B to B.
I'll try to post a sample if I can find a BT.
Rooney,
When you activate the mute it's like using your right hand palm to mute the strings.
The mute ,also seen on Jaguars of the early '60s was not so popular and many guitarists removed it

Sorry that's between my Dealer and I
But it's a Masterbuilt so you may guess the range...

Wow, that's beautiful! I have 4 Masterbuilts by C. Fleming, that guy is one of the greatest. I love when Jimmie Vaughan used his Danelectro 6 sting bass for one or two songs back with the T-Birds.
