I'm wondering if anyone knows what type of wood might be on my '97 Custom Shop Stratocaster. It is quite a bit lighter than any rosewood fretboards I've seen.

Very early on yes.
We use mostly Indian or African now.

It's the board wood on the Artist SRV although theres issue that the first few of the run used a different type. Others will know.
