Hey guys, I have a Victor Bailey 5 string. I love the look but not so much the sound. I used to have a Red FMT 5 string which I love the sound but not so much the look. I want the FMT pre-amp put in my VB. Can you guys do that or do I take it to my local guitar shop? :D

Usually installing a preamp means additional holes (for it and its battery)
I'd suggest you contact a professional.

Alain's reply also raises the question of whether there was a body routing specific for the FMT preamp and if so, is it reasonable to do that to the Bailey, and how might the removal of the additional wood affect the basic tonal characteristics of the instrument. Some boost circuits, such as the EMG, do not require a rout and room for the battery can be found in the control cavity. In any event, to the best of our knowledge, the Custom Shop does not offer these kinds of services.

I agree with Doc and Alain, however it is not impossible to do if you have somoe reasonable woodworking expertise.

I converted a second hand Highway1 strat and installed a set of Jeff Beck noiseless pickups, and a Clapton boost circuit.

It turned out to be a bigger job than I anticipated, but we struggled through and I am very pleased with the results.

However as I said before - DONT attempt this if you arent reasonably proficient with a Dremel routing tool.
