I will be selling this once my real TBO replica arrives. I'm looking for 800-1100. anyway, enjoy the pics, and feel free to ask any questions!

Specs:

Alder HGWY 1 Body

'62RI Neck

3rd party Gold/Pearl tuners

^was going to buy an original set of the Fender/Schallers, but then John announced the offical TBO replica, so I saved my money instead

American Vintage Gold Hardware (not relic'd because I don't have the time)

Fender 57/62s

Mint Green 3-ply Guard

now on to the pictures!

@ Mike Eldred: Well, what do you think? not too shabby, eh? it is nowhere near the quality that the official model will be!

(I hope it is the highest quality. not paying 6k for something I built myself! jk)

Great work man!

I've found that for the plastic parts some 800-1000 grit to take the shine off and then a little dark wood stain gives a nice worn in look.

White vinegar works well on the gold hardware. It only needs to be quickly dipped, left a minute or two then wiped off.

Well done....the luthier's equivalent of a silk purse out of a sow's ear. 8) Not unlike what Ceri produced out of that abortion of a Strat body he acquired.

Now you understand the tack of my hard opinion. This kind of audience appreciation demands a production quota beyond 83 units. Anyone who cares enough to want one, should be able to obtain one. As with the Clapton, I would like to see three reasonable price points made available ot of the reworking of this guitar's design: Artist, Custom Shop, and Masterbuilt.

I completely agree. I feel bad for people that want one but can't get their hands on one of 83. I suggest do a RDWN variation ONLY for a year, along with the artist NOS.

or you could just order one from me lol

Dude.....your collection and rate of acquisition is much further along than mine at this juncture. I was about to ask the same favor. :P

Perhaps demand will change Fender's policy. :?

Mine is a different passion than that of, let's say, alain's for example. I know he sees them as guitars first and foremost, yet unique and, among those he possesses, rightly they are. For me, with my limitations on time, and space, I cannot extend my self as he has.

I've ranged through at least 10 guitars in the past 15 years and three out of the four I currently hold were acquired within the last 12 months. Those that went on into other hands I obviously had less attachment for. Two of them were PRS's...beautifully crafted...but there was no bond.

I know there are many of you waiting with baited breath on this new JM , and I can well appreciate the anticipation because the same electricity was running last year at this time with the Gilmour. I was not anticipating doing anything about that, having just then acquired an '89 Pewter Clapton in really great condition, but the chat on the Forum and my personal auditioning of the guitar was the strong persuader. So I let two guitars go in exchange for it.

Then when Fender pulled the plug on the VG and I learned I could get the FSR Deluxe V-neck for a song, that squared a whole lot of issues I had had from the introduction of the MIA Deluxe and the VG project. It was an interesting 'gadget' which I really wanted to have to mess around with, so parted with the cash. My only other interest would be in a TK Masterbuilt of something which really unraveled my socks.

Having lunched today with some of my former bandmates further reinforces the awareness that time and tide are ebbing and flowing. Had I your future in front of me, as I once did, I would necessarily feel that my opportunities were limitless, and likely conduct my self accordingly.

As I said earlier, reality bites and I will content myself with things are they are, not as they might be, and enjoy thumbing along on your ride.

right on, man. I love the clapton. I almost wish I had one with LS Golds in it (loved my Strat Plus but sold it to finance my copper tele)

I had a '93 'Blackie' in great condition which I swapped out towards the CS Clapton based guitar I had built. The Custom Shop guitar ultimately did not meet my expectations. I likely should have gone Masterbuilt but they said it could be Teambuilt (term at the time) so I didn't question them. Had I known what I know now, TK would have done that project for me but then I wouldn't now have the Gilmour, would I.

I seized the opportunity with the second Clapton, year and finish being quite motivating factor.

In my opinion, best Stratocaster in the Fender stable. More than 20 years, still going strong, only change were the pickups, not necessarily for the better, available in 7 different flavors and now two limited coming, and in three different builds.

Can't be that track record.

I had this thought to pass on to you.....The next time you are fortunate to get to go one on one with Lee Dickson, ask him the yet unconfirmed or unanswered question........"How high are those strings set up?" I know what we've read in the likes of A.R. Duchossoir, but Dickson is 'the man" in these matters of truth.

Doc
