I know some have routed out strats to change the sound, would drilling holes in it do the same thing?

Would this create a more hollow sound?

Imagine the "poor" dull life I would have had without the Fender Custom Shop being there during all these years, b.e.buying more Enron share instead of an SRV #1 Tribute Strat :?:

Oops
Sorry selfinflicked, back to your question.
They deliver a faster attack with a little bit less sustain; but drilling some holes unwisely may hinder the sound balance of the guitar without bringing a really different sound approach. Let's rely on professionals.
