The issue is far more global. The individuals I've approached represent a cross-section of the Latin American communities, and Tiglath is referencing the Iberian Peninsula. That's not just dialect. That's colloquial speech common to a very large population.

Compadre. We could couch this simple argument in a geometry theorem and it would not be proof enough.

I actually like the balls to call a guitar Cabronita, even if it was unwittingly. I would snap up a Putamadre Strat ya mismo.

Jeez, let's put a "Parents Advisory Explicit Name" sticker on it.
Now everything has to be politically correct, doesn't it?
And since the infamous word "c**t" was mentioned, how about taking a trip to the UK and see how much more casually they use it.
Just like Spanish (from Spain) c**o this and c**o that, everything.
Maybe some like their rock'n'roll polite, squeeky clean and castrated; I for one decline to live in that world.
Offense is in the intention, not in language itself.
But that's just my opinion.

I heartily agree.

If the answer to my saying it's an offensive word was, "So what, it's an in your face guitar," or something to that effect, I'd say "Kudos to you, and with luck with the conservatives." But the reply was that my translation was wrong, that it means nothing, and that I should ask someone who knows Spanish and knew what he was talking about.

Funny, nobody from Spain ever posted a complaint about finding the name offensive in any way, since it was out.
I haven't seen anybody but you making a fuss about this.

Can't you read?

I said several times in this thread that I like the name. Explaining what the word means is not making a fuss, it's just explaining what the words means... to an English speaking readership. Learn the difference.

Your mistaking the lack of complaints for approval only means that you should never get a job anywhere near a customer support operation.

Here is Alain feeding the "troll" again, against the very advice he gave others just moments ago.

Physician, heal thyself.

You just can't help yourself, can you? And the poor rest of us have to read the debris of your addictions.

Oh well, if everybody's got a problem misreading, misinterpreting and generally misunderstanding your sayings there must be something seriously wrong with everybody, wouldn't it?
Now it's extremely offensive, the next moment it's still offensive, but suddenly that's applaudable, then it ends in the universe not having a clue; extremely consistent.
Oh, but lack of support of your views doesn't mean anything, does it?

Never you mind, I do have to applaud the way you managed to "befriend" some of the nicest and most helpful people around here (myself excluded)in less than 72 hours, that's one hell of a feat. Oops, is it ok to say "hell" in polite company?

@Alain: I have to contradict you, this kind of attitude and behaviour usually comes from someone never having done any kind of support or provided service for someone else, just having felt entitled.

Since when you and two other mooks are "everybody"?

What great business would be to buy you for what you are worth and sell you for what you think you are worth.

The difficulty here is that you have a problem with compound sentences. The word is extremely offensive in general. But I really don't mind that a guitar is named Cabronita. Yet, there are potentially many older and more conservative people who would mind. It's not a very complicated set of ideas. I suggest you ask a nurse or someone to explain it to you if you still don't get it.

I treat people as warranted. if you treat me well, I'll treat you better, but if you try to rain on my parade, I'll p*ss all over you.

Translation: What's running down your back it's not rain.

My foot does not tire easily of kicking little fox terriers nipping at my heels, but you guys ran out of ideas long ago and boring people some more with your pedestrian comebacks will only make you look worse.
