Coin schmoine :!: . I was raised in the tribe that 'negotiates' :P 8) The current 'street' in most quarters these days is $1699 and that's down at least $500 from 6 months ago. There's at least four major holiday sale opportunities ahead plus GC's used gear liquidation. Here's another possibility. If I could find an el cheepo Clapton with a red or white body, I might consider buying it and I'd drop an EMG DG-20 in there.
I'm sure you know where I'm going with that. Been to that side of the moon before and wouldn't mind returning in a different ship.

[quote="YeeHaw"]The Custom Shop has a really cool ad out for that guitar. If you haven’t seen it, it’s the one where the guitar is leaned up next to a couple of bikes which are being built. On the rear of the first bike they’ve written “La guitarra es fuente y mala”; what does mean? And does La Cabronita translate to anything, or is it a model name? This has been bugging me, every time I flip through the magazine.

I did not see that ad; is it "fuente y mala" or "fuerte y mala"? (source and bad) or (strong and bad).

"Cabronita" is the diminutive of "Cabrona," which is the feminine of "Cabron," which means a man whose wife cheats on him. It is a terrible insult in Spain, on a par to the English "c**t." Perhaps the meaning is diluted in Latin America -- I doubt it -- and I am very surprised that it has been chosen for a comercial product. That name would certainly cause offense in Spain and no knowing company would dare use it, as it is very rude.

This reminds me of when English speakers unwittingly say, "cojones" to mean balls. Well, to Spanish ears it's a very rude word also, not simply "balls." And again not to be used in polite company.

Interesting that you see that as well. I addressed that issue some months back. Spanish usage varies greatly among communities and countries.and one person's concha (shell) is another person's(@#$%&)! It's a wonder, with all that Tex/Mex stuff going on down there, they didn't do their homework. It's possible that they were aware of some less intense usage of the word. There are a few. But thanks for the followup and re-enforcement.
Doc

Your translation is wrong.
It means nothing. Ask somebody who speaks the language.

I guess this one deserves the 5000th post. Suggest you Google something known as the Urban Dictionary for an interesting perspective on the word.
I've already run this one by mis amigos en mi oficina. Sus opiniones son muy interesantes.

In Spanish, it constitutes the diminuitive form of the noun 'cabrona' which is what the respondent was referring to. 'ita' denotes 'tiny or small' in female gender, in Spanish grammar.

I'm sorry, you're spelling it wrong.
It's "CABRONITA", not "CABRONA".

Sir, I am not poaching out of field. I am a native Spanish speaker, born and educated in Spain.

I don't know how the word is used in every Latin American country, but I can assure you a product so named will raise a few eyebrows in Spain, and in Spanish speaking countries that follows the meaning "cabrón" has in the mother land.

The word is used as insulting slang 99% of the time. and almost never in the sense of "male goat," for which we use "cabra" to be safely away from "cabrón." Any Spaniard will take "cabronita" as "little nasty $@!&*."

Calling a Tele "Cabronita" does not offend me, being a George Carlin admirer, but the fact remains that it's a risque commercial name choice.

As Tiglath had illustrated more than once, the word cabronita has a significantly derrogatory meaning within the Hispanic community. It is the diminuitive form of the noun cabrona , also a derivative of cabron the meanings of which, if you refer once again to The Urban Dictionary, will be self-explanatory. It is, in fact, as an old friend of mine used to say, a 'not nice' word. An afterthought, after last night's communications, was to suggest that you either send this down to Ensenada for an inquiry or, more locally, write the word down on a sheet of paper, put it in front of our dear Abigail Ybara and, with apologies as a prequel, ask her opinion. I'm surprised she hasn't voiced them as yet. :?
