Hi,

Just picked up a new CS Blackie in nitro from Dave's Guitars in WI for 2k even. I wanted to share this since i thought the price was great as I have been searching the web for a while (plus a dinged up 2005 CS Clapton just sold on ebay for 1,925)

anyway, they have 3 left in poly and 1 more in nitro each for the 2k level

peace

With Wildwood Guitars pricing Custom Artist Nitro Clapton at $3500 anyone in the market should go running your way. You should check your serial number against their inventory just to compare. You're the proud owner of likely the best Stratocaster Fender ever built for the general market, and probably the best neck of the lot.

Enjoy!

Doc

Thanks

lol not from dave's though. I wish I got mine through him. I respect nobody in the music store business but him. I got mine from Guitar Center. I had gone in by chance to get my SG Fixed up and spotted that back in the used room next to a '56 Taos Turquoise Relic Strat (Which also went home ;) ) and I fell in love with it. I didn't have the cash for both so I bought the T.T. Strat with my saved money. sure enough, christmas rolled around, and I thought I'd never save enough. then, on christmas day, the big old Flight Case was under the tree!

Just a curiosity. Go to the Wildwood site and their Fender link. Go into Custom Artist and scroll down below the Gilmours to the Custom Artist Claptons with the CZ#'s.

Wow good for you lanea. The best I saw on ebay was a used, '06 I think, EC CS with a buy it now price of $1,900. I've been looking all over for a decent priced EC and you found it! Congrats on the score.

There's a very fine Pewter '89 for nearly $600 less than that (and what I paid for mine on eBay 6 mos ago for that matter) if your taste goes to the first generation guitars which IMHO were better done because they were, then, top of the line. Stay away from the green one, though. Somethings out of wack there.

I own a 7up green EC Strat and I have been told a green guitar is hard to sell
I don't care because I love it

I know you do alain. I had you in mind when I was writing to the seller. You can find the guitar on the US site. The package looks lovely. The guitar has been opened and photographed but the dates are inconsistent and the guitar should not have been listed as an '89. If I were in the market, I wouldn't mind owning it for the sake of the finish, but the price is too high all else considered.

So your first question is knowing what current CS retail is on an '09 and what 'street' would be at your dealer. Then find out what your dealer would ask for this '05 guitar 'street used' after having put on the wall following a trade-in. Then you can first determine how good a deal it is and how high you should bid.

Problem with the narrative is that the seller is unfamiliar with current product terminology. There is an Artist version, Custom Shop version and a Masterbuilt version of this guitar. There are differences in qualtiy of assembly, circuitry and availability of finishes.

If you want to see them all on one website, with some interesting price comparisons, go to the Wildwood Guitar website. They have these guitars in each of the categories described above. Wildwood is a tad pricey, and members have done better elsewhere. (Dave's Guitars most recently, it seems). As they say.."an informed consumer is your best customer...but NOT on eBay".

Doc

You know, I went to that site ASAP (that's "As Soon As Posted") and saw nothing else listed.
