Just wanted opinions on what Custom Shop owners feel the COA is worth.

For myself I put it at 200.00 to 300.00 dollars.

I have 2 Customs Shop guitars that I call "orphaned" Custom Shops. One is a Nocaster I bought from Norman's Rare Guitar and he verified with a letter the guitar was authentic.

This weekend bought a Heavy Relic 1961 Shell Pink Strat from Guitar Showcase in San Jose without the COA. Fender verified the serial number and Guitar Showcase told me they knew the owner, it was on consignment and assured me the guitar was not a counterfeit. They have a pretty good reputation from what I've heard.

By the way, Guitar Showcase's little guitar museum is awesome!

If you can trace the original owner and where he bought it , you can get a new COA through the original dealer; as simple as that.

I heard Fender's Custom Shop never gives out replacement COA.

Besides I bought these used.

I'm ok with not having the COA but was wondering if I ever resell, how much value to place on the COA before I price the guitars.

Strat56Brownie...Guitar Showcase in San Jose has a very good reputation...they recently were featured in Premier Guitar in that Guitar Antique Roadshow event...I purchased a (don't tell anyone...a Parker Fly which I have already sold) guitar from them and they were very helpful.

Alain is right, I bought a strat pro that didn't have a COA. I contacted the dealer with proof of purchase and within 2 weeks received my COA.

Benny D,

Thanks for the info. How much did the dealer charge you to get the replacement COA?

It didn't cost a thing. They tried to give me the wrong case and I wasn't having it. The music store gave me the run around for about a week and then I contacted Fender. A Fender rep called the store and straightened it out. I received the Custom Shop case and two weeks later they gave me the proper COA. Keep your paper work gents, receipts ect, they come in real handy when a sale goes awry.
