I don't think it is a Custom shop. I ran it through www.guitardaterproject.org and it comes up a MIA production model made in 07-08. They don't have records of Custom Shop guitars, plus no CS decal on back of headstock. Does it come with a COA? If not it's certainly not a CS . Sorry, but I could be wrong!

Thanks for the reply. The custom shop logo on the back of the headstock is present but its not the same as the standard one ive seen, its a different style and says Custom Shop Original.

I believe that the seller of the guitar doesnt know much about the guitar (second hand shop) so it may be a really good buy. I just need a little more information before I spend the cash.

I've never seen any CS decals like that. That is an awful low price for a year old Custom Shop???. If I were you I would contact Fender customer relations(on this site) and they can tell you for sure. Don't buy until Fender can verify it. A word to the wise my friend. Good luck!

Send a email to Fender with the serial number and ask them. I think it's a MIA standard strat. Here is a link to them .

It's free and you would know for sure. Not a bad price for a 07-08 MIA standard. A custom shop would come with a COA too. Again good luck!

That decal is new to me too. The situation is that ive only seen photos of the guitar and the shop its in is a reputable one, ive not had the chance to view it and the seller isnt one that would go out to rip anyone off on purpose, however its possible that someone has took it into them and ripped them off! They dont really know much about guitars as Ive bought guitars from them before and had some really good deals. Ive received these photos and have offered them the £450 which they thought was fair so Id guess that they have probably paid half of that for it.

Have you noticed that the gold machine heads have faded/worn? would this be normal for a guitar thats only a couple of years old? Also, to me, the Fender decal looks real or at least a very good job but the serial number on the back looks a little bit lost, have you seen the serial numbers positioned like this before?

If I could be sure that its at least a genuine America fender at least then I dont mind paying the £450 but if it turns up and its a cheapo with a fake decal then im going to be gutted!

Thats my dilema lol

The decal is close to the custom classic decal or a american deluxe. The serial is all wrong for either guitar though. Which tells you either the serial no' has been changed or the logo decal has. Very bad news. Personaly it looks a nice guitar. If it plays well for £450 i'd snap it up. Being as though you will just about get a MIM for that in england, things look worse still.

The body at best is from a japanese fotoflame strat.
Which shop is it?
