...wow. Nice stuff there.

Those Cabronitas are gonna go fast. As soon as people experience first-hand the potential of TV Jones p'ups in a high sustaining solid body, they'll disappear!

Hello Mike,

I presume you will be bringing this magnificent show to Soutn Africa later this year so that all the poor buggers out here who buy your guitars and are loyal to the Fender brand will get a chance to see some action??

If you donmt I might just burn my 6 custom shop guitars as a protest! ! !

LOL

:( :x

We don't get much call for left-handed guitars.
You can order at anytime though.

Why only a couple 'new' guitars?

I understand 'relics' are the thing right now, but the ratio seems pretty steep.
I can't be alone in thinking a couple of those would be really sweet if they weren't all beat up.

I guess my personal preference is for your NOS, and Closet Classic stuff.

Gotta give the people what they want...and right now, the people want Relics.
We did have several NOS at the store and will for the remainder of the tour.

Hey Mike: Did Fender checkout the Spanish language etymology prior to naming that guitar La Cabronita :?: :?:

The variations in the use of the word 'cabron' from country to country are legion, and most of them not very complimentary

Check out "The Urban Dictionary"

Brings up the question of the chicken or the egg. Is Fender pushing relics because "the people want Relics" - or do people seem to want relics because Fender is pushing them?

I think it is the latter, personally.

I expressed my personal preferences on this elsewhere but I would say that Mike is correct. I see a strong artist directed trend given: SRV, Gallagher, Malmsteen, Clapton, and now Mayer (SRV influenced to the nines), having played these 'road-worn' guitars.

My heroes of 40 and 50 years ago never displayed these. Everything was bright and spanking new, as were the guitars which Fender marketed.

Doc

People don't want relics, they want vintage. If the vintage is out of personal price range or had bad quality control, there is always the vintage flavor in a relic. Relics make the vintage flavor more accessible and/or idealized.

...Then of course there are the bunch of us who prefer relicing our guitars the old way. :)

That is your choice what to believe. It makes no sense though. NOS, Closet Classic (which we've taken away, because there were few orders for it), and Relic finishes don't do us any good to "push" either way. Interesting observation though.
