Hey guys, new to the boards. I got my gilmour nos last year in like november or something and its truly is a wonderful guitar. I remember reading on a forum post a long time ago that no one knew what number their guitar was. Does anybody know how to decipher the serial numbers yet?

We did that dance on two threads trying to figure out if there was any correlation between the serial numbers and the first 500 guitars which were supplied with signed copies of the book. The upshot of it all was that the numbers were randomly assigned by computer and there was no correlation at all. They are all designated V- for vintage and all seem to have a 5-digit number starting with '4-' as of this writing. The only thing which could likely be cross indexed are the dates on the COA's, if they are in series, but I don' t know that such is the case.

If you are interested, log into Wildwood Guitars and look at their current inventory of Gilmours. You can see the array of numbers for their stock.

What piques your curiosity??

thanks for the reply guys. I was just curious about what number mine was, nothing else really just shear curiosity. Ye i always go to wildwood guitars and they have random serial numbers, and i find it weird but their still selling the first 500 of the guitars. I thought those would be gone the first month.

Interesting, isn't it. They 'pig out' on the order and are sitting there with stock carrying signed copies of the book, while a guy like me did not luck out. No matter, I owned two copies of the hardcover second edition as well as "Live in Gedansk', before the guitar was released. One I gave to the grandson of a friend. The gear that came with my guitar....well....I did the right thing by it.
