Hello Everyone. I am very interested in a Gilmour Relic Strat. I've played it at the dealers and the guitar sounds clear as bell ; except for some noisy pickups the guitar is great!
I would like to know, though, if it SOUNDS any different than the NOS version. (The dealer does not have one availalble)
==> In other words: when the CS makes a relic, do they start with a NOS and make it look differently, or is there a difference in the paint, the pickups, etc.
Can anyone help me with that question? :?
thanks, Philippe

Normally -I don't know for Fender CS - when you make a guitar to be reliced you use a different lacquer which dries slower so it gives time for relicing, easier to do with a softer lacquer.
It appears that reliced guitars do not sound the same as NOS, but you can't get two guitars sounding exactly the same, so....

Plus ,I think the relic is first sprayed with the original color of the guitar and then sprayed with the black. I believe this is on the spec. section of each model. The NOS is just done in black.
