I've recently purchased a GuitarCenter 29th anniversary Strat from a friend of mine. It is a Custom Shop made guitar with a gold metalflake body and a birdseye maple neck. He told me that it was purchased in "96" (he thinks) As much as I can find out about this guitar is that they were a special run for GC on their 29th birthday and 29 pairs of guitars were made (one Strat, one Tele). I would like to find out more about this guitar and whether I made a good buy ($1700) It's in excellent cond.On the back of the headstock it has the CustomShop logo and a "17 of 29 decal. Any help would be appreciated. :?:

$1700 for a signed and plated CS guitar from a limited run, purchased from someone I expect that you trust. I wouldn't even ask that question. :?

ZZDOC, I guess I knew it was a great deal on this guitar or else I would have thought twice about buying it. What I'm really after is more info on this run of guitars. There's almost nothing about these particular guitars on the web. That's why I'm posting in the Fender forums. Did you check out the pics?

Yes sir. The guitar might have had it's 'idea' around the time EC started playing that gold flake Stratocaster. This would be an FSR order and I expect the suggestion to ask Eldred is the best. GC's done quite a few of these things. I'm interested in this history myself.
