Right I am seriously considering buying a Gimour Replica. My dealer is working out figures for me as they may take my Strat in exchange. I have a few questions;

What exactly comes with it? I am getting conflicting information, such as only one case and no DVD. So could someone kindly list what they got?

What is a good street price for one? In the UK we are looking at £2699 but I am sure dealers will discount that, surely?

Relic or NOS???? I am thinking Relic !

Thanks in advance guys :D

Hi Pink,
Hope this helps....

"David Gilmour’s signature guitar comes with a custom case, Evidence Audio™ high-end guitar cable, David Gilmour’s three-disc Live in Gdansk CD/DVD package, and a copy of Phil Taylor’s The Black Strat book."

This site should be of interest: http://www.fender.com/gilmour/

Thanks dude!

I have actually been drooling over that page for a while......

The reason I asked about the case is that one dealer has text describing the guitar making it appear to come with 2 cases? And another ebay dealer claims that UK guitars do not come with the DVD?????

Never heard about two cases but this UK dealer is mentioning the DVD.

Yep they do, I guess it does come with it. I may email them anyway.

It was actually their description that made me think there was two case. This text in particular:

Case: Special center pocket black tolex case with crushed green lining, “David Gilmour” embroidered on interior

Accessories: Deluxe Black Hardshell Case, Evidence Audio™ High-End Guitar Cable, Custom Leather Strap, David Gilmour’s Three Disc Live In Gdansk CD and DVD Package, a Copy of Phil Taylor’s The Black Strat Book, Polishing Cloth and a Certificate of Authenticity.

When you read it you could think there is the case as described in the first line under case and then another standard hardshell case as described in the accessories section. It would not be that unusual as some other custom shop guitars come with two cases.

Well that's what I tell myself to save feeling like an idiot

I expect that one of the photobucket types out there, who own's one, might be good enough to photograph that case for you. It is different in design from the customary deluxe case in that the pocket is in the center and the neck is supported by a rest seat which runs cross the top. The NOS guitar is $3999 US.

Have you played one yet? There's isn't an owner among us who doesn't love it.

Keep us posted.

Doc

Doc,

Thanks for your comments :D

I have not yet played one nor seen one.... My local shop stocks more high end Gibson and PRS over Fender. Being such a big Gilmour fan and playing a Strat anyway I am willing to take a gamble. That said it will depend on the price he comes back with.

I recently bought a reissue Les Paul which I know is a dirty word on here  but it cost me a lot of cash...... :(

The NOS is clean. No dings.. I have not seen the case for the relic so I cannot comment on its exterior. The relic is about $900 more than the price I gave you in my prior email. The prices you see on Wildwood, for example, seem to be what they were going for. We haven't compared purchase prices among the owners on the Forum I can't speak to how much wiggle room there was back during the September madness when the guitar was release and everyone was jocking to be one of the first 500 because that's how many signed copies of the book were being released. Wildwood seems to have the edge on that stock. I did not get one, but I also own a second edition hard cover of the book which had some additional information not in the first printing, including a more detalied treatment of the project on the guitar

You might do better now with a dealer sitting with stock that is not moving.

If you are a serious Strat player and have played vintage '50's guitars, you will not be disappointed with this instrument, sight unseen. I had no intention of getting into this guitar but the feedback then was so strong and favorable that took two of my best plus some cash and traded up.

I'm not disappointed.

Keep us posted.
