Well, Ive been playing guitar for 11 years now. Honestly it doesnt seem that long. You probably wouldnt think so to hear me play lol, I should be a lot better than I am. I got into playing metal when I was a kid and even though I loved to jam on old school rock and country with my friends dads and stuff, I never would bring myself to put my money on a guitar just for that. Over the years Ive had about 50 or so guitars. Pretty much all of them for metal. Custom ESP, Bernie Rico Jr, Ive had some high end ones as well as a ton of imports. Well, about a week ago I was in the local Guitar Center for no reason at all and saw the display of Road Worn guitars. So I picked one up and gave her a shot (into a Hot Rod Deluxe) and the feel and sound I got was so amazing that I bought it right there. Even though I think it was overpriced at $950.00 being made in Mexico. I have to say though that I really didnt care. I cant stop playing this baby. I got the 2 tone sunburst 50s Stratocaster. Anyway, so Ive decided that I love the sound so much and love the vintage vibe so much that I MUST have a custom shop Fender. So I have started the process of ordering my first. A 56 NOS Stratocaster with a couple mods. The 9.5 radius mod, the 6105 frets, a flame maple neck, gold anodized pickguard, and Sage Green metallic finish. To be very honest, the price quoted me was nowhere near as much as I was expecting so Im thrilled and I cant wait to get started!!

So... as apposed to a Les Paul Custom, how much was it? More,... less?

How does one begin such a conversation with the Custom Shop?

I've answered that on the Eldred Forum in response to a similar question. Have a look.

I received a call today that my 56 NOS time machine arrived 4 months earlier than I had been told. I'm in total shock. I still owe some money on it so I won't see it for at least a month. I ordered mine as follows: All nitro finish, no WLS, no undercoat, etc, high gloss AA flame maple neck with slight tint, lightweight premium ash body in Bing Cherry transparent color, 9.5 radius , Fat 50's pickups with S-1 switching system. The shop I bought the guitar from is installing a Callaham bridge/block and saddles. I can't believe my guitar is ready. Anyway, good luck with the 56 NOS you're ordering.
