Are there, or have there ever been, a 5-string version of the Original Jazz Bass pickups? I'm envisioning a 5-string version of the Geddy Lee model. Assuming there is no such thing, what would be the cost to have the custom shop do this?

Thanks,
John

You might want to check out the Vintage "Noiseless" Jazz Bass® Pickups. They are available in either 4 or 5 string versions and they are supposedly "voiced for that unmistakable Jazz Bass tone... Sounding like a 60's Jazz Bass without the 60-cycle buzz." Or so they say. I don't know if they sound like a 60's bass, but I do like the tonal qualities of the four string version.

If you wanted a 5 string Geddy Lee you'd have to have the CS Shop buil it,which I'm sure you'd proably have to part with about $5000.00.
As far as pickups go when you say original are you referring to a particular type of wind per 60's bass or 70's type ? I have a Marcus Miller V and I've gone thru at least 3 different types of pickups which were all outstanding, but I ended up going back to the stock pickup (which I had rewound for more output) and an outboard Sadowsky preamp...I've long since removed the stock preamp
