Hi this is actually my first post and I was wondering how long does it take to receive the guitar once it is ordered. I was going to get it from Guitar Center and it looks like if you want a Custom Shop Guitar it is not done at the store but done over the phone. Thanks alot.

I ordered a custom shop guitar and it ended up in the Masterbuilt category. It wasn't anything too weird, just a few tweaks and a custom color, and it took a bit over 5 months. If it is a Masterbuilt guitar that could pass off as art, it may take longer than a year. If it is a regular custom shop guitar, it would probably be sooner than my Masterbuilt guitar, but if you want things that need to be ordered (like a weird pickguard, or custom hand wound Seymour Duncan pickups) it can add at least 2 months to the order.

Another factor is when you order. Generally there are more orders in the winter and before the guitar shows. Because of these factors, it's tough to judge because you can't really estimate when your order will start to build.

When I ordered my NOS one-off 56' Time Machine with my personal specs, I was told the wait time is 9-12 months. I should see my Strat by this August/September.

Also be prepared to pay a hefty sum up front when you order, Every dealer has a slightly different policy on up front money.

My dealer accepted $600.00, but would have taken less as a deposit so it depends. Either way, that locked in my order and I'm just waiting patiently for my dream Strat to arrive.

Masterbuilds are taking about 2 yrs. custom shop models are a little faster. I ordered a Merle Haggard sig from the CS about 9 months ago I dont expect it for another6-8 .my Showmaster took about 18 months .Just kick back and wait for it to arrive ,dont call your dealer because they dont know anything.

Good advice. While the wait is long, it also adds to the overall magic and experience. My 56' Time Machine is a one-off team built custom because of mods so i'm happy to wait around because when this beauty arrives it will all be worth it the first time I plug in.

I was told at least a year and then to my surprise, i received a call today that my 56 NOS Time machine with mods was ready!!! That was 4 months earlier than predicted. I'm beyond thrilled. When I receive it, i'll post pictures.

The man sells a helluva lotta tea :!:  On a more seriouis note....the one I had teambuilt about 4 years ago took 18 mos and they got the neck wrong. It took another 6 mos to correct it. From the general commentary my impression is Masterbuilt is the way to go to get it the way you want as long as time and tariff are of no issue. In my case, the dealer wanted it paid in full.
