Mike Eldred,

I'm the original owner of a 1960 NOS Strat. I have had it about 1 year now. Just a question on the lacquer finish. Just a cpl weeks ago, I started noticing slight "streaks" in the finish - not full checking, but slight wrinkles almost.

Just wondering if this is something that is normal, particularly given its young age.

Thank you

Streaks or Cracks

I have an 56 strat NOS Custom shop i just got, and it`s produced at 24-11-2008. It did starts to crack in the nitro lacquer around 14 days ago.
I did contakt Fender Scandinavia and they did get in contakt with USA. Custom shopp`n did want me to send it to them so they culd refinnish the body, I dont whant that so i will not send my guitar away from me :)

Did talk to the seller at the music store and he culd tell me that it is wery normal that te Nitro will crack but in mine case it was wery early, he had never seen it so early

Regards tnsen

tnsen,

Thanks for your reply. It is helpful since we both have NOS guitars. Your's seems to have experienced this earlier than mine.

Does your NOS have the checking like on a Closet Classic model, or is it much lighter than that? Mine is very very slight, not like the "cracked glass" look...
