I had to share this story with you Custom Shop bloggers as well...

Just a short story for you Strat lovers out there... Imagine this- you get married, have a kid, and regretably sell your Strat along with other gear you once swore only death could pry out of your hands. A story you've probably heard before, right?

But, imagine that you had that custom built Strat made to your specs the last year I believe Fender's Custom shop still did that for under $1,000 - it was probably the closest thing I got to creation outside of my beautiful daughter. Then imagine, 8 years later you find it on Craigslist for sale out of the blue!

I just happened to be browsing for guitars and recognized my custom designed Strat, that as far as I know, has only one sibling (I believe there were only two made- one for me, and one for the store I ordered it through- was a bit PO'd about that since I thought I had an original made just for me- but I forgave them). I contacted the seller, and sure enough, he recognized my name as the guy who regrettably sold it to him 8 years ago!

I'll be picking it up from him later this week! It's about as close to finding a lost love, or missing family member, or that girl you should have asked out all those years ago but chickened out- or better yet, got another chance with the one that got away.

Only you people can understand how I feel right now. I can't wait to hold her in my hands again! I have to be the luckiest guy in the world! Thanks for reading my story! : )

PS- I hope Steve Baily gets some of that Irish luck tomorrow and finds his missing baby, too!

To be honest, I almost got teary eyed. I could not imagine parting with my #1 strat and finding it again 8 years later 9much less parting with it to begin with. That is awesome. :D

Nice dude! Lately I've been hearing a lot of those stories. That's very cool.

Lazman, I know how you feel!!!!!!!!!

From 1988 to 1993 I owned a 1967 Gretsch Country Gentleman. I stupidly sold it to buy a Maton acoustic as Tommy Emmanuel was all the rage in Australia (now all over the world...)

It popped up on ebay November last year, and I bought it back. I drove an eight hour round trip to pick it up.

Don't let it get away again :D

Great story! I like to hear when a guitar brother can reunite with a long-lost love. :)

Maybe one day I can find my non-Fender Gibson SG I bought new for $365 and sadly traded her around 1990 for a new .357 revolver .

That's awsome! I had a Warwick Vampyre SN 5 string bass that was stolen by my very own ex-gf who said she borrowed it. Never saw the bass again. Yeah I like basses over women. Even though it's not my favorite bass now (I'm into Fender basses a lot lately), it was back then and it remained a scar for a memory. And I haven't missed a bass ever so much like I did the Vampyre. I traded many basses over the 10 years, but only this one I miss...and definitely if my current musicman stinray5 and fender jag basses go missing, I'll go crazy!!! I'm on the verge of getting a custom shopped identical model of the Vampyre but with some electronics upgrades I had in mind. Good story!
