Hi all,

So I just read something on another "Fender" forum.

Someone was saying something to the effect that the p/us' in the '65 reissues aren't exactly the same, nor do they sound the same as the original p/u of '65. But, the CS '69 have more of an accurate tone of the original '65 p/u. Do you think there is any truth to that?

I recently bought a Firemist Gold '65 Relic RI, and I was totally stoked to have one. Not only for the cool neck but for the tone from the p/u. Thinking I had the real deal after all these years, reading that dudes post really bursted my bubble.

If their are any CS workers or someone who knows the CS workings by heart please let me know if any of this is true.

Thanks in advance!

Well, I'm not sure if the other forum you're referring to included any posts by the author of this site... but it should at least reassure you that there are people out there who prefer the '65 pickups over any others:

http://areyouexperienced.net/fender_custom_65_pickups.html

I have a '66 relic (teal green) with probably the same pickups as yours ('65 and '66 seem to be the only years those particular low-output pickups were made), and I'm freshly amazed every time I take it out to play. Something about those transition years... quality of the originals must have been quite variable due to the CBS handover, but the best ones were truly special if the calibre of the CS reissues is anything to go by.

Hi "mondo500",

That is the exact dude who wrote the post about the '65 CS p/u. Thanks. I guess I'll read some info on his site.

I do love the tone I get from my '65 RI. It's hands down the best strat tone I've owned. (SRV and '50s Strat w/ SSL-1 N,M HS-2 in B). I was just confused to wether or not I have an exact replica of the true '65 tone that I love so.

Thanks again.
