I just had a chance to check out the video of the Custom Shop Pro and I'm starting to get GAS for it. I've got a Highway One modded with Custom Shop Texas Specials to cover the real authentic single coil sound and in a pretty vintage form. I absolutely love my modded Highway One. The CS Pro has so many great features with the contoured heel, the staggered locking tuners with no string trees, the roller nut, the special bridge with the excellent tremolo, and the SCN noiseless pickups. I've tried the SCN noiseless and liked the neck and the middle pickup fine. Although noiseless, they do sound like a Strat. They have slightly less detail in the sound than for example my CS Tx Specials, but when the gain's up they have their own nice Stratty breakup, especially in the neck. Only thing is, with the bridge SCN, I really didn't like it. I've played it on Am Dx and it just was too loud and bright sounding for me. I don't play the bridge pickup a lot anyway, mainly going with neck, neck mid or mid bridge, because even with my CS Tx Specials the bridge is pretty bright, and the electronics cannot dial it down. Okay so I'm checking out the video and I see the Custom Shop on the Pro set up the tone control to dial down both the bridge and the mid. That's a crucial tweak there to make that guitar sound good. I'll usually dial down my CS Tx Spc pickups to about 3 for an excellent fat blues tone. They're also good for a Hendrixish vibe turned up with the gain up, but generally I go for that fat tone Strats do very well with the tone dialed in right. Now with the Pro wired up to control the over-brightness of the bridge, that looks better. So I check the web site and I see that the Pro is gone. A lot of great stuff, like the HSS, but not the Pro. Is Fender going for a next generation noiseless to improve on the SCNs and add more complexity to the noiseless tone and pulled down the Pro until then? I think the way they wired the Pro is going to deal with a lot of the concerns about the SCN bridge pickup. Every Strat doesn't need to sound alike. The zero friction approach they're losing with the Pro looks very well done.

Hi

I was suprised to see they quit making the Strat Pro, now only available in a very expensive relic version in limited qty.

I have a 2006 Strat Pro and it is a awesome guitar, the "GreaseBucket" set up does help a lot with the "bright" SCN bridge pick up.

Everybody who has tried my Pro has liked it. :) now if I could just learn to play the dam thing!

Regards,

The Custom Shop Strat Pro is simply an amazing guitar. IMO, there is not a better Strat available today - in fact, it looks like only the Relic Pro is still available. Well, I am NOT a relic person and I don't care for the colors, either.

My best advice would be to pick one up while they still are available. If you look, you will find a few CS Dealers that still have 1 or 2.

I just added another to my collection (Artci White - Maple) because I think these are the finest guitars from Fender since the Strat Plus. I would even take the Pro over the Plus.

The LSR roller nut has to be the greatest nut ever designed for guitar. Bend, Whammy, whatever you want and it will stay in tune. Also, you don't have to worry about a poorly cut nut - it's perfect everytime - all the time.

SCN's in all 3 pickups are fantastic pick-ups. A wonderfully warm clean strat tone - yet the ability to rock very hard with some distortion. All that - and the noiseless, too - WOW - too good to be true.

Good luck in your search - you wouldn't be disappointed with this guitar.

I was just noticing myself a week ago that the custom shop pro was no longer on the website and so I called Fender and they confirmed they are no longer making it but if you wanted one that you could order one as a one off . I know this would make it extremely expensive and I feel like I stole mine for 2100$ especially since I got the latest model they made with 22 frets . I think this is by far the best Strat they have made in the modern era and that said I think its a big mistake for them to stop production . However since I own one its probably best they stopped production as I would imagine the price will go up for sure . As a matter of fact I have seen one msrp on the web as high as 3200$ and sweetwater still has a few for 2500$ . I STRONGLY suggest buying one while you can , its simply awesome . One question I have is what year model is this supposedly a remake of or closest too ? I was just wondering , since we have the larger headstock and C neck I didn't know if it was its own thing and not similar to any model previously made or not . Does anyone also know if they are planning on picking back up on producing this instrument ? I have a feeling they just realized it was too high end to be producing in quantities other than one at a time for around 3k but I may be wrong . I just know this , it is by far the nicest Strat I have ever played without picking up a late 50s model worn in after 60 years of playing and even then I couldnt part with my bridge and roller nut .
