Roger that, Hop!

There are different motivations among artists. Buddy Guy wanted the Polka Dot done MIM as a nod to those in his audience with budget considerations. There may be some of that in JM's project.

The Gilmour has far more of a purist's approach but he too was steadfast at what he would accept as a reasonable price point for the instrument. This is made clear in the book.

Apparently there is no 'gag order' in the agreement otherwise he would have been enjoined from any public discussion. Actually, why should they care. It gets the salivation flowing early and kicks up the demand curve.
What did he say?? They're going to produce 83 Masterbuilt guitars and the rest off the 'production line'. I expect that will employ the new 'roadworn' technology. Catching up with Eric!

We had the same action here for nearly a year about the Gilmour, but I don't remember if any of the hype came from the Gilmour camp itself. In his own words he thought the idea of the guitar project initially was 'daft'.

we must pray it does not become the next "Joe Strummer Tele" nightmare...

We at My Stupid Mouth believe that the production version will be similer to the FCS Custom Classic strat in terms of price, give or take 100-200 bucks. it will have the same reliced body and pickups, but we are unsure on everything else.

That would be an MIM instrument, if I am correct?

We look forward, with great anticipation, to continued updates from the folks at "My Stupid Mouth'' for the benefit of the faithful for whom the production of this guitar is another in the 'holy grail' series of artist inspired entrpreneurship on the part of the company 8)

Keep waiting. This is the closest thing Fender showed at the January 2010 NAMM show.

I just woke up  Was trying to figure out where this thread came from until I looked back at the dates. Feel better now :)
........Back to the 'any news' thread. Let's keep it simple, stay with one, and keep everyone on track. We seem to have three on this project. :? Gilmour was bad enough with two

Isn't this the OFFICIAL thread? It was started by Chandler ...
I didn't want to get hollered at for posting something "Black One" related on an unofficial thread.

Anyway, let's talk about The White One pictured above. It sure looks like someone loved it to death and it's never even been owned! The Magic of the Custom Shop!

If Tonto had been interested in a CS Fender Stratocaster it might have looked like that. With respect to the thread, the majority of the heavy chit-chat on the matter has been run on the other one with Chanman a major contributor.

I read the other day that research says that 70% of Mayer fans are female.....so its a good job that they aren't going to be making so many of these!

It certainly is Alain, according to a usually reasonably priced dealer over here who has one coming. Are you getting one to keep up the collection?

ahh john mayer , that name on everyone lips ...

personally I don't like his tone, sounds like playing guitar muted with a pillow. He knows his stuff anyways and I respect that.

That said, I just want to know what are the specs of this "black one" guitar.
I know, purist will says "I want the same guitar with the same look"
I can understand that but hey, sound and tone isn't important factor ?
I mean, from what I understand and read, this is a 2nd relic of a Cruz relic , right?

Why not just spend on the original CS relic if they are basically the same ?

Maybe I'm wrong on the whole line ... I just want to understand.
We're talking about a load of money on this guitar !

I'm quoting this from telesquire

agree with you ;)
