Did you ever see 'kevin turvey investigates' on not the 9oclock news. Mayal's best character ever.

Did you take that pic ? I have started to play electric guitar watching a VHS of P.U.L.S.E. I bought a red fiesta strat Squier motivated by the Candy Apple 50's strat with lace sensor that David used in that tour. Don't even near to that. . . but I couldn't buy a genuine Fender. In my opinion that Candy Apple strat might be gilmour's strat signature.
Anyway the black strat sounds better that any standard or classic. by the way Buddy Guy has a signature strat with lace sensors. Very nice guitar too.
See you

Are you asking if I took the picture? No, I've never had the pleasure of seeing him live. I do have a Gilmour NOS though! Yes, those others are very nice guitars.

  Man...I hate when I write a detailed narrative and screw up on the send.....losing it all. OK....short but sweet:

Welcome. First: PULSE...awesome.. The CD a must. Amazon.com has a good price. Same for 'Live in Gdansk'. Next: The Red Strat's pickups...EMG's. Go to EMG website....find the DG-20 prewired pickguard. That's the powerplant in David's red strat. Search DG-20 in Forums and find my review. That will answer a host of questions.

The Gilmour NOS/Relic....likely David's guitar for all seasons from now on.
Get yourself a copy of the 2nd ed. of Phil Taylor's 'The Black Stratocaster'
hardcover and expanded. A must read for your interest. Tells all there is to know abouit that guitar and the red one.

Stay tuned...read.....write...ask questions.. and learn and

"When You're Ready"....that Gilmour is a keeper.

Doc

yes, I've got the CD with the linking light and the dvd of on an island tour. I love Pink Floyd, I've been playing their songs since I was 16 (I am 30) I need to see that video about the history of the red strat. I know that the Fender company made a contrat with Lace Co. and they came along with an strat series with single lace sensors on it in the middle of eighties. Maybe the red one is one of those but knowing the experimental history of a guitarrist like David Gilmour probably that guitar was a 57 or 64 strat modify. You tell me. My fave strat by know is the american deluxe Stratocaster® “V” Neck candy apple. I think when I'll buy it I wont play any other guitar evn if it's a rikenbacker, mosrite, martin&co or gibson...

From: The Black Strat pgs. 111-113

...a red 57V-RI strat with EMG pickups (1985-2006)....to deal w/ RF interference in the audio, generated by lighting and visual effects...the interference was picked up and amplified further by the SC pickups and worsened by the guitar effects w/high gain stages...hence the red strat (and also a cream colored guitar) fitted w/ low impedeance active EMG-SA's were installed along with the EXG and SPC tone circuits.

These guitars represented the first effort of the newly minted Fender Musical Instrument Corporation. It is known the model was a '57 Vintage Reissue. Gilmour expressed an interesting in trying these out.

I did know that some laser efects and stuff could produce noise on the guitar signal, I've heard some about that but I thougth that there wasn't an effective solution. What do you think about the somariam cobalt noiseless coils ?
