:?: anybody has any right idea why the CS doesn't make the SRV model?

and one more that when the SRV model had poly finish instead of lacquer
which began in 1992.......

thanks! ........j

The Custom Shop already did a replica of #1, and they just did a replica of Lenny. The non-Custom Shop SRV isn't supposed to really be an exact copy. But I bet you could order a 1 of Custom Shop guitar with the same specs as the SRV, only with a nitro finish. Or you could even build one yourself.

Welcome to boards, by the way. :D

:D thanks for the reply mr.texas-realdealman! yes i think i knew about
those two CS made SRV gtrs #1 n lenny.......they are the tribute
series right? i was thinking about the regular one from the CS someday
with better specs. i like the regular fender usa SRV model a lot but
the poly finish dont feel right. especially for the soulful SRV model......
like you said we can order the one-off great one from the CS anytime
huh.......especially in usa very easily........i am originaly from japan
and the fender distributer over there dont take the one-off CS orders
from the japanese individuals. only from the dealers.

the last question personally for you here mr.texas.......why so many
gtr guys in texas seem to be better than gtr guys from the other states?
why the gtrs seem so popular in texas? why they play so good
a lot of em? any clue? SRV once said somewhere its maybe
the water ........

thanks! .................j

Fuller's! I've been there before, it's great. :D (Even bought a T-Shirt, since that's what I could afford. ) They have good customer service, good employees, good atmosphere and a selection of guitars that almost rivals guitar center. Plus their guitars aren't sticky, out of tune and full of dents like the ones at GC. I'm not in that part of town allot, but when I am you can bet I'll stop by Fuller's.

Yeah, it has to be the water. There's such a great legacy of Texas music, which I've actually only recently discovered (thanks to SRV). You'd be surprised at the number of young Texan guitarists who either have no idea who SRV is or just don't care because they hate blues. I know because I was one of them. I got turned around when I saw SRV on TV. It was like a slap in face saying "hey, poser, this guy can play circles around you". That's when I really got serious about playing guitar, and opened up to other kinds of music. Before then I just liked metal.

I was up in Abilene (Texas) once and I was buying SRV's Live at El Mocambo since it was pretty boring back at grandpa's house. The cashier was really surprised to see a teenager buying it. That's just sad, especially considering it happened in Texas.

:D thanks again for the reply the texas gtr slinger. enjoyed your story
and you kinda sound like all those texas guitarists too. (feels like
i am reading some texas guitarist's interview or something!)
anyways hey what's your name and fav axes and amps man?
my name is joe and i have about 15 gtrs now. mostly
fenders and gibsons. i am a blues guy too. i love strats that have
maple neck and alder body than rosewood neck and ash body.
many fav colors, so can't decide my best really. but vintage white
and 3-color sunburst and gold leaf like EC are great. too good for
me!......the princeton reverb reissue is the best to me no doubt.
to me nothing like that combi. the maple neck strat & princeton!
how about yours man texan?

:?: hav u heard of stockton california?

Cool man, you have good taste in strats. :D

My friends call me Beck and so far I have six electrics, an acoustic and a bass. I play bass and drums too, but I'm still fairly new at it. I have two strats, my first guitar, a Squier Strat (purple with a rosewood fretboard) upgraded with Texas Specials (I love 'em) and a Fender Standard (that old light blue color with a maple fretboard) upgraded with Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups that sound great for just about anything Hendrix and stuff like Lenny. In the future when I have money (my parents refused to buy anymore guitars for me a couple of years ago  ) I'm looking at getting my first American Strat. Either an SRV or a '62 hot rod. Something along those lines. I also have a Squier Tele, a Gibson Les Paul BFG, a Michael Kelly Valor, and a 1979 Peavey T-60 which I found for $100 at a pawn shop a few years ago. Unfortunately I set the T-60 up for metal, low action and skinny strings. I've got to fix it up to play blues, I always loved it's tone.

I have a Peavey Classic 30 (it's constantly being modified) amp which was my only amp until I won the Fender Deluxe VM here a couple of weeks ago. :D I can't wait for it to get here, it's a nice upgrade from the Peavey.

If you think I sound Texan typing, you should hear me talk.

No, I've never been that far out west. I've basically stayed in Texas my whole life. Big state.

I'm a teenager in high school, and I play in a couple of bands. My Dad's band, where I just sit in sometimes as the back up guitarist. And I'm one of two electric guitarists in a band at Church. I work the blues into the music, kind of like how SRV worked it into David Bowie. Only allot of the time it's doesn't work out that well.

I was born and raised in Houston (Albert King and some other really good guitarists were from Houston, which is really cool).

How about you, are you in a band?

Austin is a very very weird town. We have bumper stickers that say "Keep Austin Weird". Lots of college kids and parties, which is why it's great for gigs. I can't really comment on the music scene there since I haven't been there in the last couple of years. This summer I'm going to Austin for a week. I'm going to play at a jam session in one of the clubs, but that's about all I know about it right now. I like Austin, hopefully I can move there in the future, I have a couple of friends who are there now.

I've been to the guitar center in Dallas last time I was there, and at the time I didn't know about charlies'. Next time I'm in town I'm going to check it out though.

I have no idea, didn't really notice.

Same as anywhere else really. I play Ernie Ball .12's and D'Addario .11's, so I'm not really picky with band names. The gauge is the most important thing for me. It seems like it's almost impossible to find .13's. :(

Yeah, typically it's a good idea to at least check a user's post count before saying something totally uncalled for to them.
