Whilst having quite a bit of experience with general factory floor strats, I have stupidly little experience of custom shop models.

This one is for sale quite close to my house. For only £1000
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170296372431&fromMakeTrack=true

My quest for a strat thats just a strat (with a knopfler being a good start base)could well have ended. After yesterdays fiasco with the vintage 57 strat in spain i thought it better to ask here first.

Cmon guys opinions please, and as always dont worry about bashing the guitar, you could save me some money.

Niki, my mind is moving slow this morning but I did not see what model or year this guitar is. Also the pups? I probably am just missing it! Nice looking though!

looks like a 05 to me with SCN pickups for the s1 switch. The COA is present so maybe i'm just being paranoid after yesterdays fiasco. The guys only 50 miles away so i'll try to go and check it out.

Unless ofcourse i start getting half now/ half on recipt of instrument demands like with that 57 :P Then i'll run for the hills

Him having the COA is a big plus and makes the deal sound a lot more creditable (wrong spelling and word). Wish you luck my friend!

Worth going to try it so you can check COA vs Strat number, overall condition, playability with each pick up; the best way to decide...
This is a Custom Classic, not a Knopfler
The price seems very fair.

Yeah thats exactly my thoughts Alain. BTW i know its not a knopfler but the general aesthetic of the guitar is quite knopfleresque but without the signature on the headstock , which was my aim.

If all goes well i could be joining the CSclub quicker than i expected.

Its probably just me, but I've never seen (or heard of) a CS Custom Classic with S-1 switching. Otherwise the custom classics are great - I like mine very much.

By the way, the same comment goes for SCN pickups. Over the last few years, I believe the custom classics had:

Pickups: 2 Modern Classic Single-Coil Pickups (Neck, Middle), 1 Hot Classic Single-Coil Pickup (Bridge), with Custom Steel Inductance Plate. All have modern magnet stagger.

Besides SCN pick ups kind of defeat the goal of a classic don't they?

That's what I found too.

Oh no! I hope this is not a repeat Niki! Good we have knowledgeable posters here. I didn't think about that but if the COA and the guitar match up maybe he ordered it that way. Can you do that? Hope it works out . A one of!!

The scn's could be a aftermarket mod. i suppose the price rules out a specific order based on a custom classic? Its not really a problem as i'd be happy to change them for something else if i wasnt happy with them. Considering that i love the scn's on my hotrod thats a unlikely scenario.

The vintage reissue guitars have a tiny indent on the neckplate as a secret sign of the guitar being a reissue. Do custom classic guitars have similar? Aside from the headstock stamp and COA, both of which i have seen forgeries of these past 3 days.

Thanks fella's.

Nikinija- I don’t know if this helps, but there is a new Custom Shop Classic (Tele) Relic w/ S-1 guitar at a local shop, I hang out at. If they did it on a Tele, I guess it’s possible to have the same setup on a Strat.

Yeehaw.
Thankyou mate. It certainly seems to validate the instrument a bit.
