I was just thumbing through the new "Premier Guitar" mag and saw this article on the CS Telemaster.

It looks kind of interesting with lightweight ash body early 50's Esquire/Tele platform and JM body shape :

it seems like i remember someone in another part of the forum talking about their dream guitar, and it was something very close to this.

that guitar looks great. I would definitely buy one, if it doesnt cost an arm and a leg. (sadly, knowing fender, it will.)

Why dont fender make a production run of it. All the indie kids would love it. Its a unusuall but nice design. Wonder what pickups they use for the stealth bit. I considered doing it to my tele but gave up when i realised i'd be unable to balance pickup volumes.

Yeah a stealth strat. It would look like a line6 guitar. Imagine the paintjob you could have on the face of that guitar. I should copyright the idea.

"The Stealth PLUS was designed so that it would fit into the Strat electronics cavity, with no routing required. This was a prime requirement. The circuit board fits in between the pot controls and the selector switch. The Strat volume control is not altered. The middle tone control is replaced by the Stealth PLUS Harmonic Mode control.

The bottom tone control is replaced by the Stealth PLUS ON/OFF control. The tone control function remains, but it becomes a MASTER tone control. The pickguard wiring goes pretty quickly, 1 to 3 hours depending on skill and experience. We usually take off the neck (after capo-ing the first fret to keep the strings from flying away) to access the pickguard. Much faster than re-stringing. "

Go into Duchossoir's Strat book. Fender developed a guitar called "The Marauder" which I do not believe every made it to production. I can't reference that for verification from the office presently. The pups were under the scratchplate.

In the late 90s the CS made a short run of Marauders. I believe Fred Stuart was the man behind this project. Would be nice to see one of these again.

now this

Has me considering the tele stealth mod again. Lose the neck pickup or move it down to the middle position. I'd need to lengthen the control plate and cavity.

Mike all credit to you mate. thats a real inspirational idea. I can feel my soldering iron hand itching again.
