found on MF (1-18-09):
Fender Custom Shop Builder Select Esquire Heavy Relic LTD by John English - Scratch 'n' Dent (Vintage Blond*)
#520154X

discounted over $800, because a Heavy Relic guitar is scratched and/or dented? - LMAO !!

Isn't that the point?

Hello Irishmail,

I also saw that and it sounds a bit silly,
but as it turns out any instrument returned
to MF & GC goes to the scratch and dent dept.
I got a scratch and dent SG about 2 1/2 years ago,
Guitar was perfect, as was it's hardshell case. Sometimes
the operator can tell you if there are actual issues with product.

Cheers.

Sometimes it something stupid like a defect on the case. I dont blame the people that paid 3 grand for sending back a custom shop guitar that had some case damage. I read a review that said this guy bought a scratch and dent and he was happy to find out the defect was a small scratch in the tolex case.

Case or guitar, CS should charge even more. That's the point isn't it?
