Hey TheGrungeSound, I just got one before the holidays. I was originally going to get a John Mayer signature strat, cause I really dig his Big Dipper Pups for a great JM, or Hendrix sound, which is mainly what I play. But I was SOOOOOOOOO disappointed at the quality of that run (i played heaps in my local stores), I decided against it. During that search, I ran into a 69 Relic, which was out of my budget by about $800. However, I could get my Jimi/JM sound out of this axe and it looked and felt fantastic. I eventually went back and got it. It's a 2005, and I'm very happy. Although, I still have the glow of the rose-coloured glasses, and may find some glitches once that wears off. I will post pics asap for you. There are good reviews on musiciansfriend, which will help you too.

I just played a used custom shop 69 relic at a local guitar center yesterday. As soon as I picked it up and played the first chord I could feel the custom shop quality. Sounds awesome. It has THE TONE and the FEEL.
I'm in the market for a 57 relic but this one made me think. It had a rosewood fretboard that I dont like so it's out of the queston but really nice axe anyways. I have a 1960 relic which is very nice but I may trade it for a 69 if I ever find one used with a maple fretboard.

Oh, one more thing. There is a nice used black one on ebay for 1899. Check it out.

I cant give you any info on that '57, Lucy. But it's funny, I'd love one too. Such a different guitar, I suspect. Have you looked at these new road worn one's? They look like a great package, 6105 frets, 7.25", which is partly what I love on the '69. Provided the weight is right, could be super. I'd rip out the Tex-Mex's and throw in some fat 50's. Would be great to get this speck from the CS as NOS. As a matter of interest, The Todd Krause '59 Relic, is by far the finest Strat I have ever played. Pretty $, but out of this world: http://www.fender.com/customshop/instruments/search.php?partno=9275000488

Do you keep your guitars hanging on the wall all th time? I keep my stuff in cases. It's a pain but I'm afraid of climate changes. Especially in the winter with the heat on and low humidity.

Yup, our temperature variations are pretty mild here. Humidity goes sky-high in summer, but it's still moist in winter. If it was particularly dry or cold, I'd worry, but it's neither. Nice and convenient. Everyone gets a turn more often!

The 59 relic is out of my price range. I could get 2 CS strats for that price. I'm sure it's worth it though. I mainly buy used guitars anyway. There are so many good deals on used CS strats out there. Most are hardly played. I paid 1500 for a used 1960 relic that was only a year old a month ago. Complete with all the goodies and hardly played. It cost 3k new.
