Hank Marvin must be the formost ad for Fender Strat outside of the U.S. for the last 50 odd years, and I know the Custom Shop make a HM Signature Strat. Why is it I can never find this guitar listed in the sig. series guitars or find Hank in the list of Strat users or artists :?

Welcome Peteross

All of the Hank Marvin sig Strats were in fact Dealer's choice from Arbiter the UK Importer of FMIC for several years with the approval of Hank Marvin. There were several "limited edition" sig Strats following each other so depreciating the former ones.
The captationed potential buyers population was not so expanding (60's fans of The Shadows) so as they are happy with owing one there is no room for further more (also financially)
I've got two including THE one which was supposed to never existe..

Cmon Alain.
Please tell us the story on how you came by such a beautifull instrument. Of all your collection the Marvins are my favourites.

For the one which never was supposed to exist, I traded it at high stake to another collector member of this site.
For the other one I purchased it from another UK collector.
I had another one before but sold it to a Japanese Fan.

I owned one of the first Marvin Strats which never was supposed to exist. It was built and stamped by Art Esparza though it was not an official Masterbuilt model. To me, it wasn´t just a EC in fiesta red. It´s got a different neck shape, hardware and to my ears, the preamp sounded different from the EC models. But it´s nearly impossible to find any detailed specs on such details. Anyway, the wood was superb, one of the best sounding guitars I had. Pity, it was like new and the value too high so I was afraid to play it. I traded it to another collector member of this site and it´s good to know she is in good hands now.

:-)

My point exactly regarding instruments of such notoriety.
Beautifull, yes.
Playable, very much so.
Giggable, sadly no.
Guess i'm just not ready to join the masterbuilt club. :( . I couldnt justify owning a guitar i cant gig. The investment excuse has worn thin since i started recording with the 59watkins.
Looks like a time machine series for me.

Well, not exactly....we've been through that one on another thread with respect to the 'Jaguar Stratocaster.' A photo of Paul Rogers on stage wit one of those was posted.

But I agree, that that kind of venue is not your local 'roadhouse' nor 'juke joint' as we know the likes of.
